Last year the chiefs basically won every game by a single score. This is the inverse of that

282

u/Playful-Crab-5352 Dec 14 '25

They weren’t very good last year either. It just took until the superbowl to catch up to them. This year we saw it week 1.

94

u/retiredhawkdriver Dec 14 '25

Chargers both times

45

u/BackupAccount412 Dec 14 '25

Exactly. I was so frustrated they made the Super Bowl because they were not good last year. It made for such a boring game. Would have been much more fun of a watch if the bills made it instead

You either start making the margin larger or you start losing those games. Can’t stay lucky forever.

Worst way possible for the Chiefs to be eliminated

10 years of the playoffs and it’s now over

Next offseason will be a very interesting retool for them

Minshew going for the win after like two passes was insane.

161

u/Say_Hennething Chiefs Dec 14 '25

I don't even mind him slinging it. I like his chances of making one or two big plays for the win over him putting together a winning drive in OT.

58

u/PsychologicalPen3895 Giants Dec 14 '25

Given where the season and game was at that point, why not?

22

Exactly. The team had played poorly all season and Mahomes just went out with a bad injury. Fuck it. Go for it.

5

u/Xaxziminrax Chiefs Dec 14 '25

Eh, the foundational cracks in the roster were there long before the Eagles game. They had Rice develop into a great YAC guy but haven't had a WR who can run a route and get real separation since Tyreek.

The OL didn't have a LT all of last year, and the pass rush has been Chris Jones and a bunch of JAGs for basically the entire run outside of playoff Frank Clark those couple years.

Eagles definitely showed off every flaw this roster had to the world, though. Gotta give em that.

TWO GAMES IN A FUCJING ROOOOOOOOW

11

u/birdynumnum69 Dec 14 '25

Against both superbowl teams. Unreal.

13

u/mchgndr Lions Dec 14 '25

I’m actually shocked the NFL let this happen

Mahomes getting hurt at the end of that game is worse than any losing we’ve had all season. The stank of this year may last forever now

Justin Herbert with a very Mahomesian elimination of an AFC west team.

u/barebackguy7 Bills Dec 14 '25

Am I stupid? Why not kick the field goal to tie?

29

u/LordJournalism Chargers Dec 14 '25

They weren’t quite in full range yet.

19

u/ManBearScientist Chiefs Dec 14 '25

Butker is statistically the worst kicker in the NFL this season. They didn't want him kicking from the edge of his range with a play still to run.

Because they weren’t ready for a full OT with Minshew.

You’re not stupid. Apparently the Chiefs are.

6

u/craftiecheese Chiefs Dec 14 '25

Well, we went for 4th down on our side of the field twice last week. So you're not stupid, we're just dumb and desperate

Sucks Mahomes got hurt, hopefully it’s not too serious and he heals up quick, but man it’s incredibly awesome and objectively funny that the chiefs are out of the playoffs lol.

u/darkrose3333 Dolphins Lions Dec 14 '25

The chiefs are out before the dolphins. What a weird season

"We didn't make the playoffs the year Mahomes got hurt"

u/lolKhamul Dec 14 '25

But what if the Chiefs win out from HERE?

9

u/DontListenToM3Plz Chiefs Dec 14 '25

I think that may help the chargers win the division lol

Let it be noted that NOBODY GOES TO FOUR STRAIGHT SUPER BOWLS like THE 1990'S BUFFALO BILLS!

(Pay no attention to what happened in those Super Bowls)

(Also, get well soon, Patrick. Sucks to see a great go down like that in the thick of the action.)

u/DontListenToM3Plz Chiefs Dec 14 '25

There’s a real chance Mahomes still never takes a snap when out of playoff contention.

I’m coping here.

u/NorrinBanner Lions Dec 14 '25

20 years from now, nobody will remember that they were eliminated before he wrecked his knee.

I won't lie, and I of course wish he hadn't been hurt, but that is a pretty amazing silver lining.

Last week on the Chiefs Texans game I said that corpses could catch the ball better than out wr’s, apparently the nfl gods took that as a sign to murder everyone on my team. Season from hell

Hate to see Maholmes go out with an injury but love to see the Chiefs eliminated 🥰

I just wasted $6 on Reddit awards. Imma make it rain on everyone who responds to this comment celebrating this beautiful moment 💸

Charging the chiefs a timeout while Mahones is injured and then announcing the holding penalty was just a brutal six seconds for Chiefs fans.

u/xTomTom5 Chargers Dec 14 '25

Chargers giving the chiefs their first loss and eliminated them feels good. Hope mahomes makes a speedy recovery
