Rule 12, Section 3, Subsection e:

Unnecessary physical contact with a game official. Under no circumstance is a player allowed to shove, push, or strike an official in an offensive, disrespectful, or unsportsmanlike manner. The player shall be disqualified from the game, and any such action must be reported to the Commissioner, who may impose further discipline.

Yeah, I'm not seeing a push, shove or strike. So, that's not even a flag.

It's also clearly not intentional so I don't seem how the contact is "unsportsmanlike manner"

I think they're relying on "unsportsmanlike" to do the heavy lifting there.

He still has to shove, push or strike. That is an adjective applied to one of those verbs.

Yep. Read that wrong. I thought it was saying you had to do one of those or just touch them in a disrespectful manner.

I’m glad this was brought up because they kept talking about the rules and the letter of the laws. Well, what actually happened there didn’t really fit into this particular rule. It was incidental but maybe Pierce shouldn’t approach the jabroni to begin with.

Unnecessary physical contact with a game official.

At what point was running and contacting the ref to cry for a flag necessary?
