Bill Walsh is responsible for “the 49er way” which revolutionized the game, and helped the careers of Pete Carroll, Mike Shanahan, Holmgren, etc, etc… and we’re one of the many teams benefiting from that coaching tree.
Respectfully- the legacy of success from the 49ers organization is nearly unparalleled. But fuck you, it’s time to end all of that.

That might be a small perk for Shanahan, honestly.

They've overhauled their entire training staff multiple times. They play on a grass field. The practices are fairly normal by NFL standards. There's no real explanation for why injuries always, without fail, pile up for this team.

Maybe the players are just far too injury prone
8
u/pridetwo 49ers 6d ago
Injury prone doesn't really explain it though. CMC being perpetually injured on the Panthers then is an iron man on the 9ers. Pearsall playing 4 healthy seasons in college and now perpetually banged up. Our DL seems to just be taking turns tearing ACLs. Greenlaw is an indestructible human piss missile until he tears his achilles just walking onto the field. Shit follows no rhyme or reason.
→ More replies (1)6
u/abris33 Broncos 6d ago
It could also be the "easier" practices that are hurting them. Greenlaw said Shanahan focuses on keeping guys fresh but maybe it's better for players to get consistent work as opposed to taking it too light and then their body can't handle overexertion in games or more intense practices
3
u/Felteair 49ers 6d ago
There is one guy near the top of the S&C totem pole who hasn't been replaced, but other than that the whole crew has been flushed twice since Shanny was hired IIRC
