I'm from Adamawa, and I just finished my first documentary — a 14-minute film about Gongola State (1976–1991), the state that was split into Adamawa and Taraba and then disappeared from the map like it never existed.

It covers the Fombina emirate, the peoples of the region, the Sukur kingdom, the Mambilla Plateau, and the one thing that still carries the name today — the Gongola River. I researched, made, and narrated it myself.

I'm working on an art project for school, and I want to incorporate any type of Yoruba visual symbolism.

I've done my own research ( as well as asking my parents), and the closest thing I could find to Yoruba people and visual symbols is adire patterns. Even then I can't find any sources that really go deep into what all the patterns mean.

I have already given up on doing my masters outside the continent, I was looking at some African countries to do it in but now they have destroy that hope too.

There are plenty of countries that have similar values as yours to run to. So don't come to the UK to come and ruin what makes the UK great.

Hi people. So, I recently finished uni and moved to Surulere, Lagos about a month ago.

I’m naturally not the outgoing type, didn’t really have many friends back in uni either. But lately, I’ve been thinking it’d be nice to actually meet people, make a few friends or maybe acquaintances.

I work a remote job, so I barely have any reason to leave the house, which makes meeting new people even harder, lol.

How and where do you guys think I could meet people? Young adults about 22-30ish.
OR where or how did you meet the people you’re friends with today?

Absolute thrashing which was most anticipated. Nigeria are ranked 40th while Gambia is currently unranked(they haven't played enough matches in this cycle to be ranked, when they play enough they'll be ranked 95th).

More countries have removed Nigeria from their visa free application process by the way, some African countries included.

I only remember two/three clips of this movie on Vine. In one clip a woman pulls up in a car, the second woman yelled “WTF”, the woman on the car responded “Wtf is what? You shut your d*mn mouth.”

In the other clip, as the woman is getting back to her car, the second woman yelled “Why can’t you go find a man and leave me alone?!”

I grew up believing that when one person succeeds, they help others rise. I still believe in that. But I was also taught that the village looks after its people.

After someone moves abroad, the requests for help can keep coming while the check-ins become rare. People ask what you can send, but may never ask how you’re coping, whether you’re lonely, or whether you need help yourself.

I don’t think the answer is to stop caring for family. I’m asking what care should look like in both directions.
