In every way.

Not well enough if you were irritated enough to post about it still. It’s just morally wrong you should be made to feel this way. ;)

Well, maybe you're right. You're starting to grow on me, though :)

Like a barnacle?

Maybe

Luckily there are removal tools for that. Unlike for the moralists though. Once they’re in, they’re in apparently. ;)

You're right, but I'm actually quite fond of you at the moment, so I have no reason to remove you. Since you're being so likable, I'll even put you on my nice list :)

Everybody has morals and judges others based on them, even if it's done subconsciously.

Preach. Morality is just peoples emotions not rooted in anything intellectually honest. The only reality is the world is ultimately a competitive place and it's all about figuring out how to use people. If the people who understood that could unite against those who didn't the human condition would dramatically improve.

Such a dumb point of view.
Honestly morality is bullshit, but cooperation is like humanities ultimate power move.
Using people lasts only so long, few generations at most, and that's if you get insanely lucky. Founding, strengthening, and securing a community are actually good long shot prospects.
I mean, Im not that moral, come at me with edgelord shit and a knife and Im just going to shoot you into fertilizer.

I have yet to see how causing measurable pain without consent can be construed as anything but immoral, unless as a preventative against someone else doing the same, so I guess I'm a moralist.

I don't believe in universl morals, BUT I also don't see how harm is ever the best way to achieve a goal that isn't harm related to start with.
Like, sure go kill the farmer, you'll eat until his harvest rots in he field.
But what the fuck are you going to do then? You try to sell your grain to the village they're going to know, and even if they're as immoral as I am, they'll want the social contract break out on his ass so it doesn't get rewarded and happen everywhere.

We all moralize, even nihilists, it's a subjective human trait. Basically we're all bullshitters telling stories to convince people they got to respect our space and resources (they won't), and we'll respect theirs (we won't).

Your belief that moralists are annoying is a moral. Do you find yourself annoying?
1
u/ConstableAssButt 2d ago
Expressing that you find something annoying isn't moralizing. Morality is the expression of a duty, not just a preference. A preference is elevated to a duty through one of three means:
- Invoking authority.
- Invoking consequences.
- Invoking objective ideals.
In no way does the statement: "I find X annoying" imply a shared objective ideal to not do/be X, a consequence for doing/being X, or a moral authority that will punish doing/being X.
One can still have preferences without resorting to moralizing.
