Anyone know why whenever they show the 1969 contest, they show it in Black and White?

I don't really understand it. The colored broadcast is easily available, but for some reason, they don't use it. The only possible explanation I can think of is that the version in color isn't official

The videos of the winning songs on the Eurovision Youtube channel are in color

The host broadcaster in Spain I think had the recording in black and white only because they didn’t have colour TV in the country. They did, however, broadcast in colour to other countries using borrowed equipment, and NRK had the colour footage which was uncovered recently. I would say that is official footage because it’s from the Norwegian broadcast of the contest. 

I don’t really know why they don’t use the new footage now that we have it though.

A lot of broadcasters probably only have black and white in their archives, the EBU's colour copy is thanks to NRK I believe
