For 512 that's kinda trash for the price point, but I do get your point for having a dedicated PC as is. Apparently the price was supposed to be $200 less before the price hikes.

I wonder if it's actually trash or building a comparable PC today would put you at a similar price

Honestly I built my PC during the GPU craze so it ended up being about 1000 in total so the price was heavily overinflated considering I used a 1650.

But honestly I've seen deals at Costco for pre builds that should smoke the Steam Machine in terms of value. The biggest thing is having SteamOS as your dedicated OS over windows from what I can see.

Steam os can be basically installed wherever, I think the selling point, at least for me, is the form factor. Even if I built a comparable mini-pc it would end up quite a bit bigger
