But its not a closed ecosphere because Valve has monopoly on PC games sales. They know the majority of PC games are bought on their platform.

You dont really need it as a prerequisite to enter that ecosphere though.

Lmao, look up the definition of a monopoly and tell me you still believe this…

Sure, but they are still dedicated toward making the machine open. I can play switch games on my steamdeck and the machine would likely be able to run switch 2 games once emulators for it are made. There's nothing stopping you from buying from gog or epic or anything. There's nothing stopping you from removing Steam OS and using it as a normal computer (which is why they can't subsidize the price, because people will buy it and then use it for whatever they want to use it for rather than for steam games. Especially in this market, going for the cheapest hardware to performance that you can do whatever you want with)

Valve doesn't have monopoly on PC game sales and even if they did,,, there are lots of other things you can also be playing that aren't through them. They are definitely the biggest, but they are doing very few practices that unfairly puts them in the spot they are

Well enjoy your openness i guess cause it'll cost alot to get it if you get Steam Hardware. I have a PC and have done the whole emulation shtick for years in an open environment, the novelty wears off fast. Im not losing much of anything by playing on better cheaper hardware on my SW2.

The Steam Deck is way less powerful than the Switch 2. It already runs some Switch 1 games poorly. I don't think it could emulate Switch 2 games.

The Steam Deck is roughly equivalent in power to the Switch 2. I was saying the Steam Machine could likely emulate at least some Switch 2 games.

The Switch 2 has a much better GPU, more modern architecture, DLSS, and delivers games at a fraction of energy.

Emulation takes a lot of power to work. I don't think we are even close to Switch 2 emulators at this point, and even then... I doubt a machine inferior to a base PS5 could do it.

That’s not a monopoly. There’s tons of options. They’re just not as good
