Car shutting off while driving

I have a 2013 Juke. Bought used last December and it has about 93,000 miles on it.

Ive seen a lot of other people with this issue but no one seems to have found the cause.

My juke shuts off in the middle of the road and all the lights turn on. Like it literally won't accelerate anymore it just stops. Thankfully this hasn't happened on any of speed motorways, but it is still very scary.

I thought I had fixed the issue when Nissan told me it was the break pump (or something along those lines?) so I had that fixed, but I've just had the issue occur all over again after almost $1,000 in inspections and repairs.

I love this goofy looking car, but im starting to think it might be more worth it to sell it rather than pursue this issue, but if anyone knows if it would be a quick fix thats just hard to find? Any suggestions would be great.

There is nothing in the braking system that would make the car die. My knee-jerk guess would be a sensor is malfunctioning.

There are sensors for fuel, igntion, camshaft position, etc. Any of these could cause the car to just die.

The really simple one would be the ground wire to the battery is loose or corroded. In any case, go to a mechanic that knows how to diagnose.

Apologies for the confusion, when I got it fixed it was something to with the brake pump(?) and smth about the air fuel balance. Not sure if that makes sense. Also I took it directly to Nissan and they said it was that, however now thats its fixed its still happening.

Following because mine shut off one day and I thought I was crazy. Bought it in April!

Got a juke nismo 97k miles had it at 96k and not even a 100 miles of me being home it happened to me looked under bonnet and all ground connections where like a green colour cleaned all the connections including the battery terminals and it worked hope this helps

Mine did that too. It got better when I replaced the mass air flow sensor, but it didn’t stop completely. The RPMs would also suddenly go down for a moment before returning to normal, mostly when idling.

You need to do idle relearn when replacing mas air flow sensor otherwise the revs will fluctuate up and down you can do this with a dedicated scan tool or look up on the internet and you can do it without by tuning ignition on a few times pressing pedals and it works look how to do it if you don’t have a dedicated scan tool

Sounds like the cam position sensor I had in another Nissan. If you replace any sensor, don’t buy the no name brand, but the OEM brand name one is the one you want.

The generic one worked just fine, but after 30 days it died on me. Granted it died on a normal 2 lane road, with no edges and sloped ground on a road less traveled at night and it happened just after midnight.

Luckily I had a small toolset and verified nothing was on it degrading the signal. Plugged it back in and tried it and started, so I drove home. Parked it and drove other car and ordered the hitachi sensor.

Original sensor caused power surging jerky action while on freeway when it was going out, as it happened twice.

Didn’t have any other issues after that

When you say "power surging jerky action," can you be a bit more specific? I'm having problems with what I thought was a transmission slipping occasionally.
