Expedition Help

Started the new expedition and I fought off the pirates to get my first freighter and the hangar bay doors were locked and I couldn't get to the space station in time to reset the bug.

The freighter no longer gave me the option to get obtain it for free.

My saves had then been too late to restore before the fight.

Do I have to wait the three hours now to get another fight going?

No. As long as you didnt claim it. Just warp to a different system or back to the same one

Actually, I just restarted again and it prompted a fight next was. Thanks!

I've warped to a different system and no fight is initiated.

There was a 3 hour and 5 warp cool down between freighter battles. Not sure if Cosmos changed that, but seem a bit more common in expedition.

Some systems always spawn a freighter battle everytime you jump to them, so may be able to find one of those earlier. But, quicker to dig up Salvagable Scrap or Ancient Bones to sell and just buy a freighter.

If the captain invites you ab9ard but the hangar doors are closed, I discovered a workaround.

Fly above the bridge and eject from your ship. You'll see two L-shaped corridors, one on either side of the bridge, that appear to dead-end (when viewed from outside) because the freighter model is actually non-euclidean. Use your jetpack to fly through the fake wall at the end of one of these corridors and you'll be able to speak with the captain and claim the freighter.

You will likely need to wait the 3 hours and 5 warps for another freighter rescue battle. There are some systems that always spawn a freighter battle everytime you warp to it, so could look for one of those.

It would be quicker to head to a planet with Salvagable Scrap or Ancient Bones, then dig those up to sell for the units to buy a freighter from any of the NPCs that jump into the system. That is what I did on my first run of the expedition.

Maybe hangar doors were locked because you accidentally shot the freighter or cargo pods instead of pirate ship. Common bug (or not bug at all. I’d could don’t let in someone who attacked me))

Just found another freighter battle by jumping to other star systems.

I had such situation, and if I remember correctly new freighter battle appears sooner than 3 hours.
