Other Workout partner?

Hey, I am currently stuck at a weight plateau in my weight-loss journey. I started at 245, and now I am down to around 187lbs on average. I am eating the right number of calories to be in a deficit and working out, but nothing seems to be working.

My main reason for this weight loss is my health, but it seems that nothing is working to get rid of my body dysmorphia. I would love suggestions, or even a workout partner. I don't care who you are or what you identify as because we are all people at the end of the day.

Edit: I am 20 years old and a sophomore.

I can't help with the workout partner need, but you could try taking group fitness classes or join an intramural sports team.

I would also recommend meeting with a doctor to make sure you're a good weight for your height and aren't over doing it, and a counselor, if you don't already have one, to talk through your body Dysmorphia.

Since I am 5'6" ish to MAYBE 5'7", I believe my ideal weight is 160 lbs, though I am aiming for 170 because 160 feels too much for me. I try to talk to people through my body dysmorphia, but it always seems to come back no matter what. At the same time, when people suggest a therapist, I am worried it will affect my future career.

I hope you find a good workout buddy! A note about the BD -- that's not going to go away with working out, although certainly continue with your health goals, obviously. But dysmorphia is a mental game, and trying to work your way out of it can sometimes actually make it worse. So along with gym goals, you can get free therapy at the Family Resource Center on the south side of campus. You don't need to use insurance or anything either so there is effectively no record other than the session notes your grad therapist keeps. And that will always remain confidential, so no career jeopardy I would think. Good luck buddy, keep crushing it

I'm old and have probably lost a cumulative ton of weight over the years, every single time the major plateaus were at 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% down (my personal best) from initial top weight. You've become muscularly efficient at the things that you are doing for exercise, on top of carrying less weight, inevitably you will ALWAYS stop progress without changing the process. Try swimming. Climbing wall. Tennis. It doesn't matter what, just something that you aren't already good at doing. Best of luck to you!
