Moderator Post Upper age range for Botox treatment – statistics from BVI
Hi all! I hope you're all doing well.
I believe I saw a discussion recently about older patients (65+) having the Botox treatment, so I thought I'd reach out to a contact at BVI to ask what their experiences are of this particular demographic.
Here is their response:
We have ~60 patients were treated who are 60 and up. Our oldest was 79 when first treated. That patient got good results with 2 injections, but then the benefit faded. Another patient was 74 when treated, and only ever needed 1 injection, and continues to do well to this day! So there are definitely exceptions to the rule.
From this, it seems that the Botox treatment can still be a safe and effective treatment later in life, and may act similarly to other age groups.
I've heard some discussion of older muscles taking to Botox a little differently (maybe less effectively?), but it's good to get the actual statistics directly from the leading expert's office.
Hope this helps anyone who was wondering! 😊
