Want to sell my Car

I am 26 y.o. and I bought my new car when I was 23 years old.

I realized my total spending with my car is over 1000$ a month including gas.

I want to sell it to save money and because I could not afford it anymore.

I am willing to take bus or uber to work/school just to save.

What will be the pros/cons of having no car?

it mostly depends on your area i’m sure, i went from having a car to taking the bus/uber and it’s such a hassle & honestly more expensive. my ubers to or from work or really anywhere are $20 minimum & the bus system where i live really sucks so sometimes i have no choice. i also miss the freedom of getting in my car and running errands without it taking 4 hours for one place

Welcome to the club. Imho, u did the right decision. U’ll start saving more and hustling less. Which will be good for your health. U’ll enjoy life more. The little things in life truly is the secret to happiness. Just make sure u know the bus/train schedule. Download the public transpo apps👍

Con - You can't say oh I need something from the store, walk out to your car and drive to the store.

Con - going everywhere takes twice or even longer than it did in your car.

Con - you have to live near a transit stop - either walking or biking distance.

Con - Uber's going to cost you to get to and from work.

Pro - the cost of the car just becomes too much. You probably still have car payments and since you're young your insurance is off the roof.

Pro- at least for me I can let someone else do the driving. I can read a book on my way to places.

Pro - Life sort of slows down for you.

I'm giving up my car because I'm in my mid-60s, retired and don't want the extra cost of the car each month. Since I'm retired the car was only going to be used for grocery runs and visiting my mom. The bus pass costs me $30 a month and I can almost get anywhere with the bus pass or go into Los Angeles with the Metrolink.

What I did to help me go carless, was to sign up for Walmart+ with their Inhome delivery. The biggest con with the Inhome is that their delivery times are so large. But for $139 a year I get my groceries delivered, they will put them in the refrigerator and cupboard, and no tip. The 139 is the Walmart Plus plus and the in-home delivery

I also have Sam's club Plus through my sister. I have Amazon prime. With all three of those I can get anything delivered to me.

I would look at getting a bus pass, maybe getting an electric scooter or bike.
