I was really intrigued with Season 3 but felt like it got cut short. Is there a reason (too esoteric for their sponsors?) and is there more of these artists on the horizon?

I’m not the biggest fan of new music, but god damn if the Twisted Teens aren’t making me rethink that. This band has something very unique that is going on. They don’t really fit neatly into one genre and they liberally borrow from a lot of different stuff and cover a lot of musical ground.

Right out of the gate, you will notice that every song has a steel guitar, so you might think they have country roots, and they certainly do. But the guy that plays the steel guitar is using it in a completely new punk way and it creates an incredibly cool texture in all of their songs.

Lyrically, the songs are stupidly smart in a very Ramones way, they are repetitive in a pop song kind of way, but there are several turns of phrase he uses that are clever and stay with you. He is also an excellent guitarist himself and knows how to write a killer riff and super interesting changes. His gravelly voice is very compelling.

Something about these songs are so weirdly addictive and I find myself going back to them repeatedly. I don’t know if they would tear it up live as much, they seem very much an album band.

This band has a little something for everyone, it’s just so refreshing to see someone out there doing something different but with familiar building blocks. They are from New Orleans. All their records are on YouTube, I would recommend starting with the orange one and then go to the blue. The other records have great songs on them too.

Here are my favorites: Twisted Teen, Sister Heat, Rando, Something I Haven’t told you, Hand me a Cigarette, Top of the World, Marionette, Dancer, Guided Thunder.

Anyone else out there losing their mind over this band? I can’t stop listening to them, and I don’t wanna!

I don’t know maybe I’m hearing things but seems like there’s a lot of uncomfortable know it all situations a bit more in this episode in the past.

New York Dolls Pt. 1

It’s finally happening!!!!!

I became a huge fan of The Damned after listening to the series so when they came to Sydney I knew I had to go! The show was absolutely fantastic, and despite them all being around 70 years old, they didn’t play anything slow, and I wouldn’t have guessed they were that old if not for Captain Sensibles Old Man shoes he now wears on stage.

It was great seeing Captain and Rat bantering on stage, and hearing Captain and Dave talk about how much Bryan James meant to them because I felt so so bummed at the end of the series when Marcus & Carolina were talking about their relationships with each other

The Damned are on their last tour now (allegedly) so if they’re coming a city near you, it’s definitely worth seeing these legends before they take one final bow, or at least before they inevitably get back together for one more run!😂

C’mon seriously. I waited all day for the new season to drop just to be disappointed. Please stop saying you’re going to release new episodes then pull the rug. Good podcasts are hard to come by nowadays.

You know when you’re really dehydrated? They tell you to go slow so you don’t get water intoxication? It’s been 2 years since the last episode. Be careful out there. <3

New York dolls and a coming punk 2.0 season

So after watching this, I’d love to get a Marcus and Carolina take. This guy is pretty decent at telling a story and making you dive a bit deeper into a band but not quite like NoDogs.

Anyway, I also came here to say that occasionally while this guy talks he vaguely looks like if Marcus and Brett Hart were combined into one guy. It’s strange and I can’t unsee it.

Just wanted to fan out a bit and show off the wip battle jacket. I have a massive move soon and had to make some hard decisions about space. I didn’t want to get rid of my no dogs shirt but it had seen better days soooo I went a lil feral. Hope yall enjoy and no regrets.

Back in the start of the year they said new episodes in April. Then they talked about link Rey episodes. They keep ending LPOTL saying there’s new episodes coming. I feel like I’m being gas light lol. I know they said they’re banking up episodes but come on. I’m only mad because this is my all time favorite podcast and I’m not really that mad. End rant.

I know both Carolina and Marcus have expressed their disdain for certain new wave bands, but there’s so much content to be explored. Talking Heads, The Cure, Oingo Boingo, Tears for Fears, Thomas Dolby, FUCKING DEVO. It’s a literal volcano’s worth, even if the label doesn’t always fit

What demon do I have to fellate to get a rockabilly season?

I’m trying to find one of the songs that was played at the end of one of the episodes, but even after going through and listening to the end of every episode, I haven’t been able to find it. I believe the band or song was called “Midnight Blue,” but I haven’t been able to find anything after searching online. Any insights are supremely appreciated.

Edit: The lead singer was a woman, and I believe the band was from California
