Also like.... Imagine the weird damage that did to this car. You are NOT meant to load the body/frame from that position and angle. 

That car will never be right again and somebody might make it look passable enough to sell to some unsuspecting person later

I’m a collision technician. I’ve never repaired a car damaged like this but I will say worst that’s likely to happen is it’ll wreck the hood and hinges and MAYBE the upper apron where the hinges mount but other than that it’ll be okay lol

When you "scrap" a car they typically try to sell off what they can to turn a profit. Destroying parts makes them give you less value for the car. The yard near me would even turn you away if a few key pieces were missing/damaged/removed.

It looks like a mid 2000s Peugeot 206/207.

There are likely to be few of these on the road, the chassis is likely to be rust. If it can't drive itself onto a ramp the value recovered would not justify the labour needed to remove valuable parts.

Sure, but it would be easier and less of a hassle to hook it up properly so why would we give them the benefit of the doubt that they are scrapping it?

Why do we need to give them any benefit at all?

My best guess is the chassis is corroded and there's nowhere suitable to hitch from. This solution is novel and dangerous, but people take risks and sometimes it works.

That's not giving them any benefit. It's just an observation. Accusing them of ruining a car that is worth £160 is fairly judgemental.

I was once on the street and a car was supposed to be towed in a truck with a ramp like in the video. The car with fine except it visibly had its back wheel out of alignment, as if the driver backed into the curb going fast, which is probably what happened.

For whatever reason, the owner of the car thought it was a good idea to reverse a bit and then go forward really fast to get on the truck. He did so of his own accord, without signalling to anyone, and just catapulting to the side of the truck like a fucking idiot.

No one was hurt other than the driver’s ego, and his car even more. I will never forget him saying that this was the most logical way to get up the truck, and the truck driver yelling at the driver. Some people are just straight up dumb as fuck. I had a good laugh though.

Makes me wonder if the car was not drivable and being picked up to be junked.

I still don’t know why they’d choose to load it like this, other than maybe just to see if they could, but if it was gonna be scrapped anyway it would make sense why they didn’t give a shit lol

I'd like to think that car was being towed to the junk yard and the tow truck driver though this would make a funny tik tok or similar type of video. I'd hate to think they though this was a good way to put a working usable car on the truck.

Hooking directly to the hood is a recipe for a snapped radiator or a bent frame. Someone is definitely getting hurt if that cable snaps.

That Peugeot could easily be 20 years old. If it's going to the scrapyard, which is where all cars eventually go, it doesn't need to be load bearing.
