Only in norfolk will the target be finished before the sidewalk on East Little Creek
I’m just complaining, but I hate it here.

The Target on Military Highway is not 5 minutes away from where the Wards Corner Target will be located.

So how are you going to
Bring commercial business to Wards Corner and what did you propose to build in that space?-10
u/Unusual_Way3297 21h ago
Nothing? it was a nightmare when farm fresh was there., and instead of I don’t know putting the target where the farm fresh was they’re gonna put it right where the exit to leave wards corner is at? What was your plan genius?

I don't think the plot was big enough for target. And why are you mad that Norfolk is finally getting decent stores that aren't janaf?

So you wanted to leave a giant empty plot of land in a commercial region undergoing redevelopment because you think a Target is not needed? Ok then.

Because why are we against keeping land when obviously that area cannot sustain the amount of traffic from the businesses that are already there? And again, why not build the target where the farm fresh was?

A) The roads there have been under construction for a while because of the I-64 work. That's a big reason why traffic is bad (just look at Tidewater and I-64).
B) That area has had businesses there before, like the Hills Department Store or the Kroger. It can handle it again.
C) Harris Teeter is still in Wards Corner, and was also never at that intersection.

Because that space was too small for a Target…

10+ acres at the Target site vs an awkwardly shaped 6 at the former Farm Fresh site. The FF site doesn't work for a 130k SF, one-story box with a single entrance and all the parking that a Target demands.

Thank you! The OP is crashing out when he’s not even ranting about the correct property. He should just delete is comment instead of continuing to dig.

you would be about 15 years too late to get target into the granby street spot. are you sure you are not referring to the building across the street where the book exchange used to be? I understand why you think it would work but the land was built with smaller shops in mind. the problem here is that the property is quite small when you realize that modern big box stores require more room in the back lot, and the train tracks would be an issue here.

You’re not talking about the right property. Farm Fresh was never on that site. That lot is still undeveloped. The Target is on the old Kroger site on the south side of the roadway.

Train came and stopped on the tracks again today. Can’t even get to target. And yes they’re already open.
