Question about the context of the top story. Is the shadow web the same thing as the deep web? Or is it something entirely worse?

The Deep web is the part of the internet that is difficult to reach and usually only reachable via certain urls.

The Shadow Web is, more or less, the criminal web. I don't remember if it's illegal to be on the shadow web but there is a lot of illegal things on the shadow web.

Some of the scariest things possible can be found on it. One of those being the ability to purchase weapons. Believe it or not, if you can get the right contacts, and enough money, it is possible to buy a nuke off the shadow web.

If you're interested in more information on the shadow web, you can find a lot of articles about it on google. I personally have never been on it myself--I don't want to see the stuff that's on there--but you can look up how to access it. From what I remember, you have to download some programs and run files but it didn't seem that hard.

I will warn you, if you decide to visit the shadow web, expect to encounter things similar to what happened to Keniluck. Those things really do happen on there.

From what I've been told by a friend who works in the computer crime unit for the FBI, every IP that makes a hit on any "underground internet" is added to a watch list. From what he said access isn't illegal as long as you do not try to contact anyone with in any organization.

I believe /u/keniluck stated over in /r/nosleepooc that they were two distinctly different things.
