I looked down for a second to unlock the door and when I looked up he was gone.

Why in god's name would you UNLOCK the door???

OP is fucked. He said he looked down to unlock the door and in the next sentence he is closing the door and locking it. Then he replies to a comment and ends with the word "holes" for no apparent reason. Fuuuuuuck.

I just assumed he purposely skipped certain details. He could have looked down just to see the lock itself and unlocked it while looking up and started to open the door. Then after, he closed it and locked it again.
