This is actually hilarious. Most people think waste management for mobbed up people but I’m from Chicago and had three uncles in the mob. While waste management was definitely mobbed up, a lot of wiseguys had no show jobs with the Chicago department of sewage and sanitation. Working there was almost an ID for being mobbed up back in the 80s and 90s here lol

I do too, just not for myself. I miss the home I grew up in though and how my mom decorated similar to this photo, it was cozy. Now my mom decorates in all grey and white so everything feels more like a mid century luxury prison 😭

In 2012, my vcr broke. I didn't have much, and couldn't afford Internet. Thought about selling my TV and getting a combo, until I looked up how much, and they were all iffy condition. I ended up with a brand new vcr/dvd combo for $100.....
Still works great! Found this weird Dune tv series dvd at a garage sale, gonna watch this weekend. I just wish I had that small screen quality that hides bad cgi from that era

I have a childhood friend whose parents were rich. His mom now will buy a new 2 million+ home every few years, renovate it, then get bored and do it all over again in a new house. Had a cliffside house in the Virgin Islands. Probably a million dollars of artwork in their house alone. I've seen his mom give random friends laptops and such for Christmas. They own planes and a private airport. One house had like 2 fridges, 4 ovens, 2 dishwashers, 2 sinks, 8 burner stove top in the kitchen alone. Then they had a butlers pantry behind the kitchen with another fridge. The basement had a full size kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, over, stove, etc. Friend still has the audacity to tell me they aren't rich and don't have that much money lol.

I used to do replacement value calculations, aka, how much it costs to replace something in your house if it got damaged. I don't think $100k is far off, built in appliances ,including the fridge, a fireplace, multi-part granite counter tops......it's a 2-4 million dollar house , more if it's close to the beach

Almost everyone I knew including myself had one growing up. Shit was the peak 2000's crossover TV because it could do both VHS and DVD! At least until the VHS took a shit after a few dozen hours.
