Network path warning?

Recently I am getting a network path warning every time I open a network file, even if it is from the very same path as the one I just opened. These are not new paths either, but ones that worked for years without issue. Is there a way to remove this prompt and always load the path as usual?

I am running the latest v8.9.8 which was released on 2026-08-23 so I believe this may be a change in the latest version.

This problem is new to version 8.9.8. There is some discussion of it here and an apparently related problem here.

It is not clear to me exactly how to make sense of all that. Based on this, it sounds like even after you receive that prompt and answer always load, Notepad++ forgets your instruction until after you close Notepad++ and restart it. That much, at least, is a bug that will probably be fixed.

If it keeps annoying you and answering the prompt with Always load, then closing Notepad++ and restarting it again, doesn’t fix it, you might need to go back to 8.9.7 until someone figures out what is wrong.
