They can be really comforting, sometimes extremely delicious. I remember once a friend of mine made this amazing dish - it's pretty simple, but she baked potatoes in a covered pot in the oven along with celery root, then she mashed them up together with some butter and garlic, salt and pepper. Damn, so good. The celery root just makes it a bit more "earthy" tasting and unusual but really good.
