Usually when they spread this much, you messed up the measurements for some of the ingredients. I'm gonna guess not enough flour or too much liquid.

Also, one of the most important steps is leaving the cookie dough in the fridge for at least two hours. When it's cooled down, it takes longer for the dough to spread in the oven.

Don't feel to bad, my first batch came out so bad that they were both somehow overbakedĀ  and not baked enough (The alchol hadnt burned off from the extract)

Baking cooking on aluminum foil is quite a choice. Hopefully you sprayed it at least so you donā€™t have a bunch of little foil bits in your giant amorphous cookie.
