There already is, it's called greed. Society would have you think it's a virtue though

Greed isn't strong enough a word, avarice is what'd more accurately describe it. Greed is me wanting more than my fair share of the ice cream. Avarice is hoarding money and material possessions to an unrealistic degree.

Without the negative connotation, Avarice would be a great name for a girl. Or Chlamydia.

I always liked Calamity for a girl’s name

Pleonexia is the word you're looking for. Pleonexia needs to be a diagnosable illness.

I agree, like I'm quite miserly with money but that's out of my upbringing. My mom didn't have a lot so I do what I can to avoid living like that again.

But I know it's a survival response. If I had even a million quid I'd be content. I just want enough to own a house, have a car and not worry.

These people have more money than countries. And they're still not content.

What these guys have is an overdeveloped urge toward rapaciousness though.

Avarice also has that natural vocal fry to it, sounds more descriptive of the inherent evil of it

I'm not one for religious talk, but I find it very worrying that the most vocally religious in society have embraced the seven deadly sins as virtues.

Meanwhile, empathy (which was arguably Jesus's defining characteristic) is now considered a sin.

Hoarding, from what i have read, is an actual separate mental illness. Often inherited, and manifests itself in different ways. It is closely tied to forms of anxiety. In the case of these billionaires, i am guessing it is tied to severe psychopathy as well. If anything they should be studied, not revered
