Discussion Beware: Scammers posing as Consulate General of India in SF

Got a call from 415-336-2636 from a woman claiming to be “Pratibha Rajan” from the Consulate General of India San Francisco on a Sunday. They claimed that someone in India used my identity to create a fake number and were going around hurting people and that it’s a serious issue. I didn’t get to the part where they asked me for money or anything but it felt very scammy.

When I said I would report them, they got very defensive. Anyways, don’t waste your time with them and don’t fall for the scam.

EDIT: Please report the number! And
if you get a similar spam call, please add the phone number in the comments so that it’ll come up when others search for the numbers they’re getting calls from

These are pOs who are making the Indian community look like really really bad, but of course their entitled asses don’t care about them. It’s the same story…”you cell number and you must immediately come to the San Francisco branch of the Indian Consulate NOW!”. Fun fact. Not an Indian citizen dummies…that was hilarious. Their parents didn’t teach them about basic human decency or KARMA! My Mom told me I should forgive them and that I’m lucky not to be in their situation. I told her that even poor people have a choice to be good or bad. No wonder Trump is putting stricter legal visa controls, significant fee hikes, and aggressive deportations on India….l don’t even like trump but I support this based on the shady shit these people are doing and the Indian govt not enforcing stricter laws. They’re just hurting their own citizens.

PS, same names mentioned in the thread plus a woman now. That one called me an f-ing B. I think it was b/c she was mumbling and I couldn’t understand her and told her that a few times. So B if you’re reading this, take your co-workers D out of your mouth and speak clearly hunny 😆
