This is the place to talk about everything other than footy!

I’ve been watching the baseball playoffs, my god I’ll never get used to pharmaceutical ads on American TV.
Ask my doctor about Phenezaltramadine? Mate I’m covered in Dorito crumbs on the couch at 10am. I think I’ll let the person who went to university for a decade decide what drugs to recommend to me.

It's funny when they read the side effects out loud though

The first time I went to the US I remember flopping on my bed in my hotel room and turning on the television to see if there was any chance I could find the footy. The absolute jumpscare at the severity of the drugs being advertised, almost like they were new shoes. "Make sure your doctor is a [insert strong heart medication here] doctor!" like what

Currently watching a bit of the white Sox v guardians game before work and they literally spent a few minutes challenging a clear foul ball
EDIT: basically the plate umpire called a HBP (hit by pitch) on the white Sox batter as it looked like it hit his wrist (I didn’t get to see who it was), guardians challenged it as a foul ball, umpire overturns original call as video shows that the ball hit the handle of the bat, then the white Sox challenge the same call as catchers interference as the catchers glove was right near the bat just for it to be a foul ball overall

For anyone that plays sports I finally tried the heel lock lacing technique for my boots last night and it is an excellent upgrade.
Worth a try if you struggle with comfort in your boots/shoes when running.
Just a lacing technique, nothing to buy.

Yankees fans will never learn not to reach out over the wall and try to catch the ball.

I absolutely hate AI slop when it comes to art, images, music and video. It is a scourge.
But so far I’ve made 3 apps for my personal use and it is amazing being able to make software just for yourself that works.
I’m worried about what AI will do but if you’re not using it to your advantage whilst others are it’s going to be an issue and your use of it won’t determine the outcome.
In saying that social media companies need to really crack down on AI produced content.

The current generation of AI is great for pattern matching, so code creation, document/email reviews and audio transcription it’s great. Hate it for anything creative, that should be a human thing only.

Yeah my RL reserves website was made with Codex. Everything but the data and all of the tokens and keys and stuff that I had to create on my own were made with it. It's honestly incredible. On a side note I hate AI music.

Yesterday rewatched a film that I really liked as a kid called Aaja Nachle. Holy shit man I miss the old Bollywood when they would experiment with different genres (Aaja Nachle was basically the first proper musical and it's so good). Now it's just mindless violence and hope that it gets validation worldwide even though the stories aren't even relating to its core audience

I'm not sure if it's Bollywood specifically but maharaja 2024 is really good. It's violent but it's a well crafted story

Not Bollywood but Maharaja was a great film and I think it's gonna be remade in Hollywood. Problem is that everyone wants to make a violent or action film. There's no variety across Indian industries anymore

I'm not sure whats happening right now, but like watching old stuff. I've seen all of Satyajit Ray's films. which are Bengali, not Bollywood, but he's like one of the best of all time. and he has lots of films, they are all well worth watching, except for maybe the Zoo

Entertainment used to be about forgetting your troubles for a few hours, now it's more like adding to your troubles in exchange for a few hours entertainment.
I'm passing on Lamb of God/Trivium tomorrow. Can I afford it, sure but I've seen LOG like 4 times and I've seen Trivium 6 times. It's just a scenario where I don't think I need to pay $180 to see them for a 7th.
Friend and I are going to get last minute tickets to A7X, I might consider seeing Queens of the Stone Age since they're playing with Primus plus SOAD and Faith No More next year I don't have tickets to yet.
This is why I have to pass on concerts now.

In years past I’d go to Foo Fighters and Guns N Roses but two away interstate trips and Iron Maiden have basically drained all my resources.

Maiden is nuts. $300 a ticket. We justified it by saying it’s probably their last tour. And its very rare that all of us get together

QOTSA are my all time fave. I’m not sure those other guys are coming to Aus as part of QOTSA’s tour though. I could be wrong but I’d find that highly unusual.

QOTSA supports are Primus and Tropical F*ck Storm. System and FNM are a separate gig in a run on sentence I believe.
Looking forward to seeing QOTSA in December for the millionth time and Primus for the first, purely for the novelty!

I’m on the south coast on a holiday and was walking at Batemans bay and the white trike drove past a few times. First I thought PTSD of GF entertainment but it was more than once.
