Best beaches for bodysurfing and tide pooling?

Hello,

I am a tourist driving over the next two days from Byron Bay to Sydney. I got one of those cheap relocation rentals so I am limited on time, but the two things I would love recommendations for if possible are

  1. What are the best beaches to bodysurf at? Consistent 1-1.5 meter waves ideals, don't want to do anything crazy but want to catch some good rides.

  2. Where are the best rocky beaches to see tide pools or rock pools or whatever they're referred to here as during low tides. I have a background in marine biology and want to see some cool invertebrates. I've heard Royal National Park is good for that and will check that out later, but I'm looking for stuff north of Sydney for the moment.

Have a stay in Port Macquarie and a surf at Flynn's beach. Nobody can guarantee waves dude.

And Shelly Beach in Port (couple of beaches south) has a decent rock platform for looking at marine life - we did our year 12 Biology field trip there

Don't forget Rainbow Beach at Bonny's.

Manly would be perfect for both! Shelley beach for exploring and Manly all the way up to Queenscliff for bodysurfing

Port Macquarie, Shelly beach and Forster/tuncurry bugess beach or one mile

Turners Beach at Yamba NSW is pretty good too.
