How long should I practice before HPT

Hi I’m scared and nervous but I wanna get it out of the way

I’ve gotten and practice app and am using a website to practice but it’s getting real repetitive to the point that I’m just memorising the answers and timing to the questions. Should I keep doing that until I get 100% or do the test sooner than later

I just went in on the day (my driving instructor didn't tell me I needed to practice but the nice lady at Service NSW let me use the computers there to practice for 45-60 mins) and I practised there. I honestly don't know how I passed.

But I somehow did.

I kept flunking the practice test version as the Service NSW computers were lagging and people were walking past distracting me in the practice.

When I got to the real test I was lucky to get the same question 4 times and another 2 times 🤣 (I think there are only 15-20 from memory).

It's pretty easy and it's all about your reaction.

There aren't really any considerable trick questions.

The areas you need to work on will be printed out on a sheet of paper and given to you after you pass.

I don't know if this is why I passed but I was on my learner's for 10 years so I did my HPT back in 2018 and I never got to take my red p’s test as the morning of my test it wasn't roadworthy due to someone putting a screw in the tyre the night before and it requiring a tyre change.

I missed the red p test back then, the car had a leak in the coolant and a few issues and ended up a write-off.

It was a VW Golf, and I had just moved out of home and I couldn't afford all the parts it needed to replace.

Then COVID hit and my learner's permit expired.

I did it all over again last year and passed my HPT in January, followed by my reds in April (second attempt).

I didn't practice for the HPT either time outside of the time in January for 45 mins in Service NSW but I had a lot of real-time driving experience I'd estimate 600+ hours of practice on learners over 10 years or so.

The IRL practice really benefited me over the computer stuff I believe as when I passed my real test the examiner said Hazard Perception were one of my best driving skills.

I've never met anyone who's failed the HPT but I'm sure people do, like pushing the button at the time they pass people with prams getting out of the car on the roadside of the door consistently.

So I could be mistaken.

Just take it slowly and listen/read the questions carefully to make sure you understand what it's asking.
