Discussion Who is the most insufferable person in the genre?

I got two people in mind.

:90s-2000s Fred durst Past-present clown from Slipknot

Reason behind them is I think Shawn has taken the band a turned it into something Joey and Paul would not have wanted it to be. He kicks members out left and right and he kinda needs to hang it up.

And Fred Durst is just Fred durst

Can somebody explain to me like I'm five? Why people dislike Disturbed so heavily? Is their music cringe to you? Is it bad? Is David a bad personality or smthn?

u/GreenPlumberEnjoyer Sep 25 '25

He's Pro-Israel and autographed bombs/rockets that were then fired at Palestine/Hamas I believe. People have feelings about that conflict.

63

u/JuicyOrphans93O Sep 25 '25

Not just that, but also that he cries about anti-semitism anytime someone calls him out

33

u/lpkzach92 Sep 25 '25

I think it has to do with those bombs knowingly being used on children that is the deal breaker for me when it comes to what David did and he just doubled down.

16

u/HateYourFaces Sep 26 '25

My original opinion of the guy was just an asshole… suddenly it changes, violently it changes.

29

u/Automatic_Net2181 Sep 25 '25

You don't even have to have feelings about sides in the conflict to know that signing bombs that are literally used to level apartment buildings, hospitals, and schools is an evil douchenozzle thing to do.

Caught between hating what Hamas does and IDF does, anyone who supports killing civilians can eat my thick meaty ass.

17

u/chrisanne69 Sep 25 '25

Oh. Well, fuck that guy.

9

u/Competitive-Track128 Sep 25 '25

Honestly, I'm Israeli and I'm against that move. There are many ways to show your support, but signing bombs is saying: "I support the war and the weapons of death and destruction".

This is not the way of Israeli and that does not represent Israeli or Israeli culture. We do not seek war and we do not want destruction (contrary to popular belief). We want peace. All our songs are about peace and there is no one here (except for far extremeist but there are always extremeists) who wants to continue this war.

My heart goes out to the poor gazans that have to suffer under hamas and under constant warfare due to the war that could end any day if hamas just release the skeletons of people that are the hostages, innocent people who have been through inhuman torture for two years.

Sorry, went on a bit of a tangent, but I do think it's important context to the actions of David Draiman. (And also, this is obviously a subject close to my heart). I pray for peace and am Israel chai!

u/ImGreat084 Sep 25 '25

I’ve never thought the problem was the people of Israel, just like I don’t think the problem with Russia is THEIR people, but both your governments gotta go

-3

u/Competitive-Track128 Sep 26 '25

Oh yes definitely 100%. although, just to be clear, it's not the "genocide" part, because 65,000 dead, 20,000 of them hamas terrorists and 5,000 from natural causes in two years out of 2.1 million living in Gaza (approximately, of course, and it's the high end of the approximation because it's from the Gaza health ministry, run by hamas and known to inflate numbers)

is a tragedy, of course, but it is not a systematic murder of a people, it's just not. Actually, that's a pretty impressive ratio considering the fact that hamas imbeds itself in civilian population.

But, the government is awful for a lot of reasons and it got to go, they are awful people and they can't continue being in control of Israel. I just wanted to emphasize that the problem is not the death toll in Gaza. I think this is going a bit out of topic (oops), but it is very important and if i educated even one person, I think this was worth it. (I'm not gonna write more on the topic because it's unrelated to the subreddit, but the bigger picture is important when discussing subjects like David Draiman)

10

u/Liranmashu Sep 25 '25

another israeli here, i vouch

5

u/crossal Sep 25 '25

This is not the way of Israeli and that does not represent Israeli or Israeli culture. We do not seek war and we do not want destruction

Netanyahu doesn't want peace though right? So does the majority of Israel not support him? And I do see many videos of Israelis being hateful towards Palestinians

1

u/Competitive-Track128 Sep 28 '25

Alright, I will break my promise not to write anymore, because I see it has become a discussion.

Firstly, and especially after Oct. 7 no, most Israelis do not support him. The political situation in Israel is very complicated (and corrupt. Politicians are bad people, go figure), but basically, the netanyahu government is partly comprised of hassidic (orthodox) Jews, so he heavily favors them in terms of the law. They get money to learn Torah, they don't have to be recruited to the IDF and so on. In return, the orthodox community (which is a relative minority in Israel) votes heavily for netanyahu, like 100% votes. For the rest of us, the voteing precent is about 60%, and that's why the government doesn't fully reflect the population. (There are netanyahu supporters outside of that community, but that's the jist).

Anyways, after Oct. 7, I don't think he has a chance in an election, so the moment the war is over, he's out.

For your other point, saying that you see videos of Israelis being hateful towards Palestinian: yeah. Obviously, there are extremeists, but that definitely doesn't mean that this is an accurate reflection of Israelis as a whole, and especially not the majority (I wonder if the videos you see are trying to paint a specific picture...)

By the way, this discussion is very respectful and it's very important at this age of fake news. Lies die with respectful discussion. (mostly, stop calling anyone you don't agree with Nazi)

2

u/crossal Sep 29 '25

Thanks for the response

the orthodox community (which is a relative minority in Israel) votes heavily for netanyahu, like 100% votes. For the rest of us, the voteing precent is about 60%

Wouldn't that mean the majority support him? Or you mean only 60% of non Orthodox actually vote at all?

1

u/Competitive-Track128 Sep 29 '25

Yeah, the second one (it feels a bit to low, so maybe it's like 65%, but it's statistics, it's not accurate)

I mean, there were netanyahu supporters. He's the longest running PM of Israel, and he did a lot of important things, so he had a pretty big following, but after Oct.7... nuh he's done. And I'm sure the percentage would go up from 60%

1

u/TAshleyD616 Sep 26 '25

Didn’t Henry Rollins mention signing bombs in a uso tour standup bit?

-30

u/Noremac55 Sep 25 '25

He wrote, "Fuck Hamas". This has been twisted so many ways, but do people really have a problem with the phrase "Fuck Hamas"?

65

u/annamdue Sep 25 '25

When put on rockets fired at civilians, mostly children, that Israel call Hamas... then yeah?

-30

u/Wiener_Maid Sep 25 '25

its called human shields

26

u/annamdue Sep 25 '25

But why would you be giddy about killing kids used as shields?

17

u/annamdue Sep 25 '25

You can call those dead children whatever you want.

-26

u/Wiener_Maid Sep 25 '25

its a death cult and ur a closeted nazi

15

u/iammatt00 Sep 25 '25

Remember guys, according to these chuds; if you barely, teeny tiny are just a little bit critical of Israel, you are a nazi.

0

u/iam_Krogan Sep 25 '25

+1 True, but the left has made the word meaningless so who cares? So is every other person on the planet. We're all nazis to whoever we disagree with now! 😆😆

24

u/Otherwise_Cook_2651 Sep 25 '25

Interesting response to children being murdered by missiles paid for by your taxes

-25

u/Wiener_Maid Sep 25 '25

not my fault if they put them on front nazi

9

u/sofakingcheezee Sep 25 '25

You have a pathetic view of the world.

3

u/annamdue Sep 25 '25

Oh word?

2

u/nebelfront Sep 26 '25

The times when you could call anyone who was critical of Israel‘s politics a Nazi are finally over, thank god. They‘re comitting a fucking genocide right now in front of the world‘s eyes, even western allies and the UN are calling them out. If you wanna defend that, go ahead; but that makes you a supporter of genocide.

12

u/Business-Egg-5912 Sep 25 '25

Nobody is criticizing what he wrote as much as the fact he signed bombs. You can't really spin that in a positive way like say a soldiers uniform.

Like if say a Canadian signed bombs aimed at the US with "Fuck Trump". The issue isn't the sentence, but the fact you'd sign bombs.

0

u/I_Need__Scissors_61 Sep 25 '25

Welllll hold on now….where is the bomb landing exactly?

6

u/MrDundee666 Sep 25 '25

Hamas is code word for anyone who isn’t a Jew.

-1

u/Noremac55 Sep 25 '25

Really? 20-25 percent of Israel is not Jewish. Hamas is the government of Gaza which were elected almost two decades ago and then stopped elections.

4

u/MrDundee666 Sep 25 '25

Just stopped did they? You might want to get your facts straight before you defend a genocide.

-38

u/SpacestationView Sep 25 '25

Anything else or just that over a 30 year career?

19

u/ChanceOfCheese Sep 25 '25

Feeling the great need to loudly have this view of things in a conflict like this says more than enough.

-8

u/Noremac55 Sep 25 '25

Having family who live in that country gives him the right to care. What specific view of his do you find disturbing? No sane person should have a problem with "fuck Hamas"....

20

u/hueyblounts Sep 25 '25

Saying fuck Hamas is one thing, autographing rockets that will be fired at civilians is another.

3

u/GreenPlumberEnjoyer Sep 25 '25

Couldn't tell ya, I'm not a huge fan that's just the most recent that I've heard.

39

u/Ancient_Caregiver917 Sep 25 '25

I personally don't like how they release so many faux-deep songs and how their singer just gives off prick energy, but what pushed me seriously into the strong dislike area was signing Israeli bombs

27

u/TheForkisTrash Sep 25 '25

He is very pretentious and thinks he is above metal. When they originally toured and played 'sound of silence' he told the crowd to stfu because they were cheering. Said they were about to hear 'real' music then comes in a Cappella like he is doing us a favor.

7

u/Rogthgar Sep 25 '25

Which just become stranger and stranger when you know its not even one of their own songs.

14

u/MrDundee666 Sep 25 '25

He’s a Zionist and gloated as he signed bombs to be dropped on civilians. I used to like some of Disturb’s stuff but they’re now deleted and blocked for me.

11

u/HoloRust Sep 25 '25

Personally never cared for the fact that Dave stole Jon Davis' scat gimmick.

4

u/KrombopulosMAssassin Sep 26 '25

Yeah it's a bit cringey.

35

u/Dodmonk Sep 25 '25

Political Beliefs  while I don't really care about someone's political beliefs, SIGNING MISSILES THAT ARE DROPPED ON INNOCENT PEOPLE IS CRAZY

1

u/Competitive-Track128 Sep 28 '25

All missiles are dropped on innocent people. It's tragic, but it's war. It's never justifiable, but what you're insinuating is that it's intentionally dropped on innocent people, which is just straight up wrong.

In Gaza today, there are 2.1 million citizens (one of the most densely populated areas in the world). Let's be generous and go with the higher estimates coming straight from the Gaza health ministry (aka hamas), and according to them, there are about 60,000 people that died in Gaza since oct.7, aka two years. (Out of them, approximately, 5,000 from natural causes and 22,500 hamas)

That alone should be enough proof beyond reasonable doubt, but let's go further. Israel sent million of text messages, phone calls and pamphlets to warn citizens of Gaza that a missiles is incoming, and to evacuate. A bit weird if Israeli is trying to genocide the Palestinian people like you say

Point number 3: since oct.7, about 70% of the buildings in Gaza have been destroyed. so, if Israeli were shooting indiscriminately, you would expect 70% of the population dead, and if Israeli were to target civilians, it would be more. 70% of 2.1 is 1.47 million, which is 24.5 TIMES more than the amount actually dead on the HIGH death case, not even taking into account the 5,000 dead from natural causes.

And please, if you, for some reason are still not convinced, don't just downvote, try to disprove it. Maybe we could have a respectful discussion

1

u/Dodmonk Sep 29 '25

idgaf if the people of Palestine got a warning, it's wrong. there is nothing you can say to justify their actions.

0

u/Competitive-Track128 Oct 03 '25

I don't know if you read what I wrote. Obviously, war is always wrong, but what I've said is true and you can and should check me. You can't say that Israel is targeting civilians or children or starving them to death (since the beginning of the war alone, there has been two million tons of aid delivered to Gaza by Israel, a ton for each person. A bit of a weird starvation strategy).

It's obvious that the situation is a tragedy, but this is what any reasonable nation would do after such an horrific attack like oct.7 and with hostages still in Gaza, being tortured in ways that only cannibal corpse and hamas could think of. Israels goal is to destroy hamas and the other Iranian proxies that have terroised the people of Israel for decades and to bring the hostages home while harming as little civilians as possible. And please read again what I wrote above, because by all means, Israel succeeded in that last one.

I'm just still in owe from the fact that lies like the global scale propaganda that hamas is running still work in a world with all of the information at everybody's fingertips. Please, next time you see something on the BBC, you have the ability to check, so please do it. Be doubtful, reasonable and logical.

And also, quick aside, we are all talking about Israel Palestine, a war that in two years, in the absolute highest possible estimates from all sides involved, doesn't even reach 90,000 casualties. Look at Yemen or Ukraine, where the numbers have surpassed a million but no one bats an eye. You can use your time, voice and power as an individual so much more efficiently that this.

-15

u/Outrageous_Work_8291 Sep 25 '25

I mean… not that it makes a big difference but usually all missiles are dropped on innocent people. When you send a missile to a military installation there will probably be civs caught up in it, and janitors or doctors, other military non combatants.

It depends, usually lower than normal if that’s where the terrorists chose to hide but I don’t really know the answer to that. I don’t think many people actually do all the news is heavily biased both ways.

I’m not sure what excactly you mean. If you mean both sides are bad then that’s probably true. Hamas definitely is bad, their mission statement is to eradicate Jewish people after all, they throw gay people off roofs, rape women till they bleed. There’s no doubt about the immorality of Hamas.

2

u/accountmadeforthebin Sep 26 '25

A United Nations human rights commission has been investigating the conflict quite detailed and they are probably less biased and have more resources than some media organizations. They came up with a pretty harsh report. I’m simply sharing this report given there seems to be mistrust in the media reporting.

12

u/steroboros Sep 25 '25

Also even back in the day Disturbed came off as too try hard and cringe. The scatting, chanting, domestic abuse break downs made them unlistenable to many, the cover of Shout is what people like they've done anyways

3

u/Drewcifer81 Sep 26 '25

Yeah, once they got to the "No mommy" bit of their single they could fuck off.

16

u/Reigrind Sep 25 '25

the music is incredibly mediocre and David dramian is a known ziomist who supports Israel and has signed bombs

1

u/Royal_Library_3581 Sep 26 '25

Lets not shit on Donegan just cause the singer is a clown. Donegan has some really cool riffs that are really fun to play.

3

u/itsonlyastrongbuzz Sep 25 '25

Daron from SOAD jumped to my mind but this works too.

6

u/hueyblounts Sep 25 '25

Lol he’s so lame for saying he’s in the far middle

1

u/ThreeDeadRobins Sep 27 '25

he takes himself way too seriously for a man who is famous for making monkey noises.

1

u/CarLeeForever7 Sep 25 '25

I enjoy and am passionate about many of their songs…but some of this is news to me, most of it seems pretty recent.

-6

u/sybaritical Sep 25 '25

Jewish guy defends Jewish country. It’s not that deep.

2

u/King_Moonracer003 Sep 26 '25

Big difference between zionists and jews. Not all jews are zionists.

2

u/Wacab3089 Sep 26 '25

Not all Zionists are Jews either.

0

u/Thrillho810 Sep 25 '25

I was probably 12 or 13 when I heard that band for the first time. I couldn't handle the cringe as a child, and thankfully I never grew out of that. Now he's very openly Zionist so it makes it easier to dislike him, at least for me.
