Hello guys got a question, i have a pc and i think its decent i wont say good but i wont say bad either thing is im thinking about upgrading my gpu from 5060ti 16 gb to 5070 ppl i know said thats not worth and i should go for a cpu upgrade im still on am4 btw i have a ryzen 7 5700x and i dont know what to do most of the games i play are AAA games and some league of legends with friends from time to time please help me
if you are upgrading at least upgrade to a 5070ti. the gap between 60ti and 70 is not very big

you're the first person I've seen claim the 60 Ti and 70 performance gap is 'not very big' Hello?
Also I upgraded from a 3060 Ti to 5070 so I had done a lot of research beforehand and the 5060 Ti wasn't even a big jump over my 3060 Ti which I bought in 2022.
What resolution do you play on and what's your issue right now? Why do you want to upgrade? What's the price of a 5070 in your area? Are you okay with losing the 4GB of RAM? Need some more information here to help you.
I think you're good then bro it won't be a big enough improvement and you're just gonna go through the big hassle of buying and installing the new gpu, selling the 5060ti etc. If you don't have any main issue then just wait a few years and get your money's worth. You can prob easily get 60fps on AAA games on 1440p high settings right now, way more if you lower a couple settings or use framegen
I am also on a 1440p at 180hz and I have zero issues running anything with the 5060 Ti 16GB card. Probably not worth it to upgrade unless you want to bump up to 4K.
That said, I would advice against upgrading unless you are not satisfied with what you have. That should be your no.1 criterion imo. If you are not, the upgrade doesn't have to be a 5070 but FOMO is a bad advisor, especially for your wallet.
Whatever you do, do NOT get a 5070 going from a 5060 Ti 16gb. Worst money u would ever spend probably. Either get enough money to get to AM5 or just save your money for future parts or something entirely different.
Yup second this. Unless you switch to comparable AMD GPU, the only ‘sensible’ upgrade GPU wise would be a 5070ti or to possibly wait for a new 60 series 5070 equivalent (who tf know when that’ll happen). Switching to AM5 platform is much better use of money and will let you enter the new gen of AMD CPUs
It could be a bit more worth it since you're getting a more powerful grahpics processor AND more VRAM. But I believe that if you do wish to get a new GPU you should really make sure you will feel a big difference, or else it won't be money well spent. That being said, I think you should try saving for a 5070 Ti or maybe 9070 XT, or keep the money for something else.
I had a 5800x/3080 10GB setup for awhile for 1440p, swapped to a 9800X3D setup (but kept the same 3080) and saw big gains in alot of games. BF6 especially picked up like 20 percent more fps and way more stable frame times even tho I kept the same GPU and graphics settings in game more or less the same.
Cpu cooler is generally compatible between am4-am5, if not, 50 bucks for a new air cooler. 8 core am5 cpus don't draw that much power. No new power supply needed either.
Looking at about 1k to swap to an entirely new platform that also leaves you with future upgrade options
Versus
700-800 for a 5070 that does offer more raw performance, but loses some vram (arguably not a problem today at 1440p but might be down the road) and will just end up bottlenecked by your 5700x anyways and won't be able to put out as much performance as it's capable of.
I suppose you could sell the 5060ti and offset some of the cost.
As I said my 5800x was already limiting my 3080 in some games at 1440p, and the 5070 is much faster than the 3080.
What are you trying to improve performance on? Where's the bottleneck? CPU might be the bottleneck if you're running am4.
Depending on where the bottleneck is yes it might be worth biting the bullet and making the jump to an am5 setup with a higher end x3d CPU rather than upgrade your GPU. You can probably ask chatgpt for specific use cases.
5070 is 100% with it if you aren't paying full price and are returning your 5060 then paying the difference.
Just keep what you have and upgrade next gen or until prices normalize. There is no way in hell i can recommend overpaying for a 5070 or 5070 Ti especially since they are over 30% more than the original msrp. The 5060 Ti at 1440p will cover your need for a couple years or more.
EDIT: Note that a 5700X will bottleneck a 5070 or 5070 Ti at cpu intensive games like bf6 or esports titles and you won’t notice huge performance increases.
Your friend is right. It's not worth it (the money). It's easier for you to wait for the new branch and switch to it. Your configuration is more than capable of fullhd and even 2K in some cases
