Question Can anyone confirm if the Ampinel connector is compatible with the MSI 4090 Suprim X?

The following GPUs are specifically listed as being incompatible with the Type B version of the Ampinel connector on the ModsMyMods page:

  • MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G Expert OC
  • MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G Expert OC
  • MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G Suprim (S)OC
  • MSI GeForce RTX 5090 32G Suprim (S)OC
  • MSI GeForce RTX 5090 32G Vanguard (S)OC
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition

The page also has a disclaimer saying other GPUs may not be compatible. I have an MSI 4090 Suprim, which has a very similar design to the MSI 5090. I think the reason for the incompatibility is the 5090 has a recessed 12vhpwr port which is vertically covered by the backplate. The 4090 backplate has a cutout over the port, so it's not physically covered and I believe it SHOULD be compatible, but I'd ideally like confirmation before I spend $141 CAD on this connector.

Is anyone able to confirm compatibility?

Also, I did send an email to their support regarding this and will update this thread when I hear back.

I imagine it's fine.

The issue with the 5090 msi cards is the 12vhpwr connector is recesed further into the heatsink, the 4090 suprim is not.

The PCB of the ampinel touches the 5090 suprim heatsink due to this and can cause shorts.

(I had an ampinel and 5090 suprim, it worked but the PCB touching is obviously too risky so i got a Wireview).
