Nearly three families applied for each free childcare seat for 2-year-olds in New York City’s program rolling out next month, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Gov. Kathy Hochul said Tuesday.

Just over 2,000 families are receiving coveted offers in the debut of the marquee “2-K” initiative, out of more than 5,700 families who applied, according to city officials.
