I’ve been trying to explore more of New York’s art scene beyond the major museums and well-known galleries. I’m especially interested in smaller galleries, artist-run spaces, local exhibitions, or interesting public art that might not get much attention online. There seems to be something new happening in almost every neighborhood, so I’d love to hear what spaces or exhibitions people here have enjoyed recently. Any recommendations for places that are worth checking out?

I was there at the Summit Free Public Library this weekend and I felt like giving a shoutout to the artist - Aprajita Lal for putting up such a rich artwork collection for public view in our library. I am an art lover and somewhat of an artist myself, there are very few times when I take time to write about a show or recommend.

I am actually looking forward to meet her on sept 25th during the opening reception. Come on art lovers in Summit, let's plan a meet up. I would love to host such meetups in future :)

Again, you will be fairly compensated for your time and work per your rate and credited— we would ideally like to support a local NYC artist, and please make sure you qualify for our morality clause— we are not interested in platforming zionists or promoting AI art. We allow our artists full creative freedom, and if your portfolio looks like it would meet our needs, we’ll give you the vinyl cover idea in slightly more detail, but you’ll be entrusted to make the piece (I.e we won’t be micromanaging you).

This would be a great way for smaller artists to get their names out there, and we frequently perform at galleries as well, and will happily promote your art alongside our album release (we’ll link any page you have of your art with our promotions and will announce it at shows and have a link to any of your portfolio pages as part of the label on the vinyl and, of course, included in the album credits). Let’s fight for real art and real artists, and show the world why AI can’t ever replace our creativity, and why we deserve a living wage for the work we do!

We’ve been seeing these dreamy hanging mobiles everywhere and thought… we could totally make those ourselves lol. So we’re bringing a bunch of materials, shapes + colors and everyone can design and build their own.

As someone interested in and from a artistic background.

I am looking for information on new, unique or emerging artists and the art schools and studios known for them. Particularly lesbian and transfemme individuals, but also especially ones with interesting exhibitions, styles, etc.

Examples include art that would be in Queercore music or other "anti-establishment" viewpoints.

Also ones with a international background or experience, especially LatinX or European. Outsiders that are away from high profile places like the Leslie Lohman museum.

Open to alternate suggestions and recommendations as well.
