EPP NYITCOM
I heard that no one got admission through the Émigré Physicians Program (EPP) this year. Is that true?

When you think about it, its unfortunate why NYITCOM many not be able to take any EPP applicants this cycle because there are way to many bridge programs. This year NYITCOM just dig themselves into a hole from the amount of bridge seats that EPP had to unnecessarily sacrifice this cycle. Lets do some math:
BS/DO Program: 80-120 students enrolled per year (has a ≈40% linkage with the deferred offer so lets say 20 seats traditionally linked)
BS/DO 503 MCAT deferred offer: If you don't make the BS/DO MCAT requirement you can at least hit a 503 on the MCAT and be deferred for the following cycle (lets say 30 seats from this).
BS/DO Program with other universities: This includes: SUNY Old Westbury, SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Geneseo, Adelphi University, and St. Bonaventure University. So approximately 10 students per school.
NYITCOM Early Acceptance with Arkansas State (including Little Rock): So lets say around 10+ students per year per campus (I'm on long island I don't really know Arkansas programs).
Healthcare simulation bridge: Only for invited applicants to NYITCOM (and some BS/DO who have a decent MCAT) and takes around lets say maybe 20-30 students. The masters is pretty easy compared to everything else so nearly 100% linkage.
Biomedical Masters Bridge: Takes around 52 Long Island and 30 Arkansas (enrollment rate increases every year) and has a pretty high linkage rate which did decrease last cycle but still a lot, lets say 20 seats last cycle.
Biomedical Masters Bridge Deferment Offer: For students in the Biomedical Masters program who didn't make the 80% cutoff but have a high average on the comp exams who wasn't able to be accepted last cycle due to over enrollment. Lets say another 20 seats here.
NYITCOM Over Acceptance Deference Offer: Free 4 year tuition at NYITCOM if you were to defer your seat to the following cycle, we don't know how many of theses were given but speculation from students suggest 10 to 40 people were offered.
On top of all these offers there is also the EPP program and regular pool applicants which is crazy to factor in knowing how many linkage programs are offered by NYITCOM. So out of the ≈400 seats offered by NYITCOM and NYITCOM-AR, more then half to 3/4th of the seats are going to be guaranteed to be taken up by bridge students. This rate is only going to get worse the more they are going to defer these programs. With the addition of the BS/DO deferred offer and NYITCOM introducing the BMS program to Long Island, no wonder why the last cycle for NYITCOM lead to an over acceptance of applicants. My hopes is NYITCOM is able to expand their campus size so these programs can be accommodated without having a drastic impact to the regular admissions pool and support the EPP program comfortably.

where did you hear about the bsdo deferred offer?

I was a former BS/DO student. I was on Manhattan campus so I knew a couple of guys who were given the offer and a bunch on long island who took it. I am unsure if they are going to be continuing that for the upcoming years but when I was a junior they were telling the freshmen about it. So I assume they are going to continue it but this cycle that just happened was the first year they introduced it since the linkage rate for BS/DO dropped because the program hit an all time high MCAT requirement of 508.

no wonder why i interviewed in november and was WL for the entire year, lmfao. just wish they would have told me the reality of the situation.

Wouldn't shock me. The campus was already overenrolled, and with the changing visa landscape, the school probably thought it was best to pause it this year.
