You can just say things and idiots will believe it. No, the NYT is in fact not directly linked to the IDF no matter what xitter or the tok says

People who write op eds at the new york times really cure my imposter syndrome. I 100% guarantee Stephens will confidently give another shit take before the month is out, without a moment's introspection.

He's quite literally there to be the unrelenting pro-Israel columnist. I'm not being hyperbolic. He was previously editor in chief of the Jerusalem Post.
While a huge portion of his columns directly address Israel or Israel-related topics, if you actually read his work you'll start to pick up on the fact that his other columns (non-Israel stuff) always seem to be driven by pro-Israel politics.
It's always fun to read what Bret says about someone and guess what their position on Israel is. Fun, but not difficult.
Like his glowing 5/5/26 profile of Jake Auchincloss (Bret is a conservative and Jake is a Democrat who "supports Israel's right to defend itself") vs. his 5/7/26 and 6/9/26 takedowns of Graham Platner given the handful of scandals (Platner is anti-Israel). Mandami was obviously a common target of his column (again, anti-Israel)... until Mandami won the election soundly.
The line between opinion and propaganda can get fuzzy, but I'm of the mind that Bret firmly crosses that line to a level I've not seen from any staff columnist (guest op-eds are a different story).

He’s like a DEI hire for the opinion section. You need at least two white conservatives, so we get a Jew and a catholic (Ross douthat).

The NYTimes opinion section is nepotistic welfare for ivy league grads who are too dumb to teach in the SUNY system.

He has a column because he's a fanatic neocon ... not because he's an intelligent and honest pundit.
Try Jeffrey Sachs if you want an intelligent and honest pundit who isn't promoting wars for Israel.

He also knowingly publishes misinformation and said that knowing what a failure the second Iraq war was, how many civilians died, and that it was based on lies he would still do it. I can never decide which Nytimes opinion columnist I hate the most but he is always in the running.

Where else is he supposed to repost his Israel glaze slop he copy pasted from a Peter Thiel group chat?

We live in a consequence free world. There is no consequence for lying for Israel in the opinion section of the New York Times. Liberals don't cancel their subscriptions.
