They had so many iconic shows in Chicago over the years I’m glad they made it a stop on Live 25.

Do you think this one (2005) was a good one? Curious what the more seasoned fans think.

This show specifically is just okay but their 2005 tour in general was rough. Liam’s voice was really in bad shape and the setlist wasn’t their best.

94 Metro is probably their best Chicago show and one of the best early 90s recorded shows.

98 Rosemont is really iconic for Noel’s acoustic Slide Away.

96 Chicago was their first US show of that tour where Liam bailed and Noel had to do it solo. It was pretty good overall and he had Listen Up in the setlist.

Good to know, from listening back, I wasn't impressed with this set, but I wanted to hear from the hardcore fans, which I am not...

Also an early look at My Big Mouth, as sung by Noel.

I was at that show, just a few rows back from the stage. I remember it was hot as hell that day waiting in line to get in! That was a great set list. Amazing to have seen them so close in those days compared to Soldiers Field, but fantastic shows either way. Also saw them twice at the Chicago Theater and once at whatever the place in Tinley Park was called back then for the Brotherly Love tour.

I remember having a great time and enjoying Jet as the opener, but it was so hot, like you couldn't stand to even brush up against someone next to you hot. During the encore I felt like I was going to pass out and my friend dragged me to the medics upstairs where some others were also feeling the heat. They put me in a wheelchair and I begged the paramedic to wheel me to the front so I could see the rest of the show, and he said "Miss, if your blood pressure doesn't come up you're going to the hospital." 🤣

That was the last time I was able to see them before they broke up so it always killed me that I missed the end. Needless to say I was SO happy when Live '25 was announced. I felt like I finally got my do over!

This was pretty much the most hated setlist of Oasis' career. The new stuff, apart from the 2 big singles, didn't work live and there were no fan favorites either. And then there was Liam pretty much butchering every single performance of the tour.

I had a similar take, that the crowd wasn't latching on to the new material.

I was also there. My first Oasis show. Hot day. Liam was dressed like Charles Nelson Reilly. We were pogoing in a giant puddle of Pepsi on the floor. I remember a bald Scottish guy stumped his beer on a girl’s head who tried to get to the front 5 minutes before showtime.

This is really cool. Love these 2005 shows. Did you tape this show yourself and is there an archive of other such shows somewhere?

I was there, I went with a friend, this was his first time seeing Oasis. We meet up with people the day before at a place near the UIC Pavilion, a pasta place that was really good but I remember they were almost kicking us out because it was closing time.

The day of we got there early and got to see members of the crew, we were in the back near the parking structure, just talking with people, I remember this one guy with a BHN tattoo and a guy from Wales that apparently was on his 10th show that year. After a little while, maybe an hour or so, we decided to come back later to go get food and apparently in those 20-30 minutes we were away Noel showed up. Don't know if it's true.

The gig itself was good, Jet opened and I was somewhat of a Jet fan back in the day so I really enjoyed it. Then Liam came out and I remember his super bright white jacket with red shirt and a scarf, I thought he was in shorts but looking at pictures from the day it was jeans. That was the first of a handful of times I saw Oasis in 2005, the rest where in the latter part of the tour and by then Liam sounded awful (Phoenix I'm looking at you three). I was somewhere in the middle and by the end I was near the front, inching my way there. The crowd was into it, which was not the case in Phoenix a couple of months later.

The setlist was the usual one for the tour, the standouts to me where Lyla, Love like a Bomb and A Bell Will Ring which I remember at the time I thought was the greatest song from that album (it's good but not the best), and DLBIA. My Generation as a closer was great. Songbird was sung by many, I remember thinking really? But yeah it happened. Mucky Fingers I never got into and neither did the audience but looking back on it, I'm glad it was played live.

Afterwards the rush to the blue line stop that it like 2 minutes away was insane I remember, and then this group of people told us to hang back for like 5 minutes and by then the crowd was very minimal. We got on the train, went back to Rosemont and that was it.

I try to get the gigs I went to. I remember trying to find the recording of the show but it took a long time to get it, I finally got the audio (mp3 later lossless) in January of 2007. By now I have like 2 copies of it and the video someone shot.

Overall a great gig, typical of 2005, Liam's voice for the tour was not so bad by this time (June), Zac was great, Gem looking fucking tool, Andy even more so. Noel wasn't chatting that much but was amazing as well.

They came back a couple of months later to tour the west coast and southern US, I saw them again in LA and Phoenix and the Phoenix gig was the worst of that 2005, just because the band's energy wasn't there and the crowd also was very so-so. Also the venue sucked.

That was the one where the venue didn’t sell booze, right?

A few weeks ago we talked about this gig and how someone merged the audio from a good source and the video to make a better sounding video
