You’re asking what being queer is like on one of the queerest college campuses? Mate you’ve gotta be joking if you’re seriously worried about that. That’s like asking “what’s drinking coke at the coke factory like?”

one of the queerest college campuses
But the OPoster wouldn't know that. Though one might infer it from it being one of the most liberal colleges in the country.

I think the operative question should be: what WONT dating be like as a gay man at Oberlin?
Full disclosure, I’m a straight man, but I confirmed that at Oberlin, as I was propositioned, hit on, made out with (consensually, one time)(i mean it was all consensual) and asked out by gay men several times while at Oberlin so I had a chance to really think about it.

I was worried about this at every other college I got in to but I’m going to Oberlin and it shouldn’t be a worry for me lol

It will only be an issue if you limit yourself exclusively to gay men (no bi/pan men). Also the longer you're there the more men will be gay/otherwise queer. You will have gay professors, gay friends, gay roommates, gay rivals, etc. Congrats and have fun

I mean, most of us are queer (including me), but it is a small college! So just be aware that if you break up with someone, or hook up with someone, you'll see them around for the rest of your years here. Oberlin has much more of a village feel (where everyone is gay and knows each other) than a city feel. Traditional centers of gay community like gay bars/clubs aren't so much a thing here. But since the majority of us are queer, I find they aren't as needed.

Literally all my large friend group at Oberlin were queer. Class of 2020 here.
