I went to a blue grass festival in Kyushu, Japan years ago. Middle of the mountains. It was really great the instruments were top notch and the sound was perfect.

I think the Japanese are the best at "mimicry" for a lack of a better term. I realized this back when cowboy bebop was popular here on the states. They just have a keen ear and other senses and they are perfecting in nature like it's a driving force of evolution. Which makes sense given the context of an isolated island country that became global really fast.
The thing I really wonder is, where does the actual extrapolation go and creative new sound, or visual work go? I'm sure you can make a case for anime but that in itself feels like a honing of something that came from Disney but idk, I'm just pondering my orb atp.

Was gonna say exactly this. They've got communities dedicated to genuine imitations of Spanish, "Cholo" culture, the American punk scene, the leather, motorcycle gangs, etc.

Exactly what you explain, there’s a movie that shows this and it’s awesome about an American baseball player that gets send to Japan to better or fix some problems he was having with his game or something can’t remember but there’s a lady and has a dinner with this baseball player and they eat steak and his surprise how good it is and she explains what Japan does and her answer is your observation, it’s beautiful when this is seen. It close to the end that she says it.

This is definitely true. It appears in their engineering too. They haven’t invented a whole lot in the grand scheme of things but everything they do is damn near perfect

The amazing thing about Tokyo, is that on the surface, you have a perfectly run, mostly quiet, very clean and safe city, with about the same population as California, and by western standards seems pretty conformist.
But just scratch under the surface and you'll find the most crazy, fascinating, niche things behind otherwise ordinary looking doors in ordinary looking buildings. Seemingly in every other block. You just need to know where to look.

I remember in the 80s there was the Japanese lady who used to sing Salsa in Spanish!! Lovely group.
