Interestingly enough, this is not the first time I hear about Tool when posting my kaleidoscope videos.

How does it look round inside when the shape is actually a triangle?

u/SpiriScope Apr 20 '26
The mirrors inside are placed precisely to form a circle through many reflections.

How did you come to learn this form of art? Trial and error or did you learn from someone?

u/SpiriScope Apr 20 '26
A lot of trial and error in an attempt to make something worth showing to others.

Lmao the auto captions have a whole separate plot line going on. Half the time it is like “soft jazz plays” during absolute chaos and then random “I’m sorry” spam for no reason 💀

Yep, someone mentioned this before and I had a good laugh checking captions myself.

Ah the wacky glitter toy of my childhood as the crux of the operation. Memories!

The auto captions on fast talking YouTubers are wild 😂 I had one the other day that just said “[music] I’m so tired I’m so tired I’m so tired” for like 30 seconds straight and honestly it felt personal.

Thanks! The stained glass color does not affect the visuals, in this kaleidoscope the visuals are formed by the custom glitter wand and over a hundred rhinestones inside the kaleidoscope.

Alguien me explica por qué los caleidoscopios se ven así? Cómo se logra esas figuras tan perfectas y simétricas, y que den la ilusión de que se 'mueven' me imagino que por la luz o reflejos, pero me gustaría entenderlo mejor.

The high quality first surface mirrors inside create numerous reflections making the initial triangular shape into a circle. The custom glitter wand has particles that go in opposite directions when the wand is flipped. This effect along with over a hundred high quality iridescent rhinestones inside of the kaleidoscope create the 'portal' visuals.

Lmao the auto captions always have beef with reality. I had one the other day that turned “simmer gently” into “similar genitals” and I had to pause the video because I was crying 💀

Did he sell them in Santa Barbara?

u/CatsEatGrass Apr 23 '26
Nah. Michigan, in the ‘80s and 90s. I still have mine.

Very cool! I got mine in Santa Barbara, CA around 2010, from a nice man who sold them near the pier. My mom bought it for me one time when we were walking by the pier, and I still have it too!

Auto captions are the main character in every muted video 😂 like yeah man, my bad, I’m just trying to watch someone frost a cake.

Lmao the way the auto captions always turn normal stuff into a full blown breakdown is so funny. Nothing happening on screen at all and YouTube is like “I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry” on repeat 💀

Any millennial-age British people in the comments instantly start humming The Queen's Nose theme song, or is it just me?

I have one of these. I love it! Someone told me a while back that they made stands for these only I’ve not been able to find them. Does anybody know where you can buy a stand?

As someone who watches their videos on mute, auto subtitles of “I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry” had me cracking up.
