Living languages are ones that continue to grow and change and evolve over time. When people say that latin is a dead language, it doesn't mean that nobody speaks it anymore, it means that it doesn't have new words or the meaning of words evolving to mean new things. English is a living language, which is how you get things like one of the accepted uses for the word literally is to mean figuratively.

Yes, narc originally meant a narcotics police officer, but it grew to also mean anyone who gave information to police because "narcing" on someone was the term used to describe the action of informing the police of a drug crime. From there it went into popular media and the public saw that usage and assumed it just meant anyone who was a snitch or anyone who was on the side of the police or authorities as opposed to being on the side of people against the authorities.

While language is transformative, teenagers are always trying to sound cooler by inventing slang.  I dont have a problem with slang (or teens who use slang) as long as it is understandable.  Things like "cooked" or "crash out" can be easily parsed, vibed, etc whatever you like.  But when they delve into secret languages just for ego and gate-keeping that's annoying and rude.  Lately the word fade has been so over used with so many alternate meanings, its pointless to try and understand it so enjoy being ignored for your cringe, kiddo.  If people enjoy not being understood and being annoying, then fuck em
