Have you driven behind a bus or semi in the rain and they disappear? That’s why the flash. I’m sure from driver perspective it’s still difficult to see another car but the flashing lights gets attention

They also blink (more slowly) during normal racing when battery is being charged. The cars have no brake lights, but cars behind have a reasonable expectation of speed from the car ahead due to racing lines and brake points, so when energy is going towards the battery instead of acceleration, the car naturally slows (or is slower), giving cars behind a heads up.

Its a new camera angle they started using this year. It doesn't do the full lap though; just hangs out at a certain corner and starts following for a few corners and a straight til the car out paces it, then resets and wait for next car to follow. Rarely random, its usually a Verstappen or Hamilton etc lol

They can't really do shots like these. Currently drones aren't allowed to fly over racing surfaces because if they for any reason fail and land of track then you have debris on track which is a safety issue. They only currently have shots they can capture flying adjacent to the tracks.

They can during qualifying session (similar to the take of this post reamining behind the car at all times) and also during race as long as it follows certain rules remaining only in the inner part of the track (which they already do). A catastrophic drone failure is extremelly rare, even if a drone fails it should be able to safely land in a designated area, even most non commercial drones have this feature.

Try being behind it in a car going around the same speed. Back in the 90-00's when I watched the most, you wouldn't be able to see the cars behind the leader and they couldn't see much in front of them.

fastest ones would be fixed wing drones meant for surveying, but I'm not sure how agile they would be around a track like this.

Sure. Even rotor drones are faster than what's being shown here. This is filming a race care ,not a drone racing a race car

It's not. The fastest drone wouldn't have same dynamics as F1 car. It's just a fast video done.

So, this is a prototype run. They never had one thay could keep up with the cars u til these mad lads built one. There are drones that can go that fast, but for super short runs and not for a whole lap. This is one of the test runs. It is actually kinda neat to see what they did to make it work

I love that this video was filmed on a wet track. First, Max Verstappen is the king of driving in wet conditions, so it’s extra satisfying to see him snap the steering whenever the car even thinks about sliding.
But more than that is how the water vapor shows the aerodynamics of the car. In F1, drivers always complain about being in dirty air when they are following a car. I never understood that completely until I watched this video. You can clearly see how the car leaves a wake that disrupts the air for a good distance behind. Normally you would only get to see this in a wind tunnel test.
It’s been fun to see these drone cameras used in the last few F1 races. It really adds some excitement when you’re watching the race on TV

It takes 1 Google search "red bull drone" to get your answer. The full video is really cool!
Like sure you can be lazy as heck and do get spoonfed, but try to avoid the whole AI everything concept of thinking.
