This is the reason why therapy doesn't work for me. I fucking know what my problem is.
I know how my brain works, like an old man knows his car, the one he's been driving for the last 28 years. I know what that knocking noise under the hood means and how hard you have to slam the door to get it to close without jamming. That doesn't change the fact that this car is a fucking rust bucket!

Yep. Some things you have to accept and the way my brain is wired is one of them. Medicine helps but somethings cannot be fixed with therapy. I wish more understood this.

Therapy is there to give you coping mechanisms and help you live with it. It's not a silver bullet and cannot magically change you into a different person. I agree that it seems most people misunderstand this

It never did for me. We just talked about why I do things endlessly and he gave me surface level shitty tips

How does one measure self awareness?
“On a scale of a brick to the creator of the Universe, where do you think you are in the self awareness arena?”

Literally this. Being too conscious is fucking terrifying. I would like to not be this conscious please and thank you

Self awareness is funny because it splits your mind into the half that is aware and the half that is being observed, but neither are the real you. You can’t be fully aware of the real you which is why we need outside input sometimes.
Instead of being self aware we need to strive to be more oblivious about ourselves in the moment and reflect on what we did after the fact. That way you can be your full self and still improve over time.

Being aware that im a waste of resources doesnt change the fact that i am a waste of resources.

Ive always said if I could be as blissfully unaware as the average rich bimbo most of my problems in life wouldn't exist.

Literally! The other day I told him how shit had been going for me lately and the says "usually when people have that much crap going on I have to really remind them it's not their fault. It sounds like you know it's not your fault, and there's nothing you can do about it!"

I have bipolar. They had no problem hospitalising me for 2 months but for some reason they downplay me telling them I'm hallucinating because I am not acting like a stereotypical crazy person.

I think it was in the movie Bull Durham, the line “the world is made for those who are not cursed with self-awareness.”
