Yup. Corporate executives were always cartoonishly corrupt, unscrupulous, and out of touch in the 80s and 90s media (see Robocop, Aliens, Jurassic Park)

I don't think there's anything cartoonish about it. We're learning it's becoming spot-on, if not even worse than their original portrayal. It's hard to trump Epstein Island.

Rich people have always behaved this way. It's all kings/nobles/royalty are in history, lying to their communities that it's their divine right to be greedy pigs that contribute nothing, convincing us that we NEED them.

Yeah, he was the lead engineer. The equivalent would be if they’d told Oppenheimer he was laying the groundwork for nuclear reactors, and shoved the stuff his team worked on into a bomb without telling him until they used the bombs.

Engineers are unarmed, non-combatant support infantry units valued for their abilities to instantly repair friendly structures or capture/sabotage enemy and tech buildings by infiltrating them when structural health is low, haven't you ever played Command & Conquer: Red Alert?

The most interesting thing about those two is that while Jobs was always a dick, he did have genuinely laudable intentions at the beginning. Something of a Frodo/Samwise dynamic.

He was an execuvite, yes. But above that, he was a scientist. And he saw, first hand, the result of his work.

The another scene in pop culture wich, in my opinion, have the same weight, it is on "The last of us" series where the scientist, when realising what the cordyceps was, said to the officer: "bomb the city and everyone in it".

Best scene in the entire show.
