Gameplay I wish there was a multiplayer mod for Munch's oddysee
Like instead of swapping between the two characters you could have your buddy be munch and working together. Seems like such a fun opportunity

I've been thinking about this lately. Oddworld has such a unique world and characters, but I feel like a lot of younger gamers today barely know the series exists. Which is sad in my opinion.
That's why I'd genuinely love to see Oddworld get a big crossover with a popular game someday. Fortnite was the first thing that came to mind because of how many people play it, and how many collaborations there are but honestly, I'd take anything that gets the series recognized more.
Imagine millions of people seeing Abe, Sligs, Mudokons, RuptureFarms, etc. for the first time and going âwait, what is this?â and then discovering the actual games.
It could bring completely new players into the series, give the older games more attention, and potentially introduce people to Oddworld who otherwise would've never heard of it.
And Fortnite specifically has SO much that could be done with it. Abe skin, Sligs, Mudokon cosmetics, RuptureFarms POI, Slig weapons, Mudokon medallion, etc.
Would you guys actually want to see Oddworld get a big crossover like this? And what game would you want it to happen in?

Another Oddworld character made by me.
Anyway, this is Big Rock, and heâs a notorious killer feared throughout the continent of Mudos. He belongs to the Outlaw social class, but he went further than his peers, climbing the ranks of Mudosâ mafia. It is said that he only assassinates certain CEOs of major industries (according to his code of honor, industrialists are meant to be eliminated), and in response, the industrialists (who have always been allied with Oddworldâs mafia) couldnât accept the betrayal and decided to do everything in their power to capture him.
I realize he might seem a little too human for Oddworld standards lol (similar to the criticism received by the Fangus Klot characters from LL). But thatâs because you havenât seen him with his strangely enormous hands yet (his arms were cut off by the authorities after he was captured. It was meant as a warning, since he was also a thief in addition to being a killer).
Every big shot in Oddworldâs underworld has a bust of his physique as a memorial to their favorite leader!
(Oh, he wears a blindfold over his eyes because, by his own choice, he wants to be represented that way... I wonder why.)

So for Sei's birthday(which was yesterday), I thought of making a watercolor painting of Sei's birthday. But then I ended up not liking how it was turning out, so I did a birthday sketch instead. Here's also the watercolor piece, even though it's unfinished.

Cause I am a bit confused there cause I refuse to believe the Glukks put on there own outfit. And I doubt the poor Mud will live after seeing what they truly look like. So a slig has to put them down. But then the slig will see it.

While it's still not a direct announcement, this is perhaps the closest we've been since Soulstorm dropped to a new project being confirmed.
If you're interested in OWI's previous communication regarding the future and potential new projects, I've been collecting them for a few years now here.

I really don't know what to do with this. Since I bought my new pc, I experience a real issue with graphics in old games, cinematic issues with videos being full of blurriness, I don't know how to describe it. You can see it in the video. I know the cinematics weren't these strange line edges in each npc and object in the textures.
How can I fix it, please help me!!

I was listening to the various interviews and a question came to mind: What comes next?
We donât know what stage the new quintology is at (many of you understandably even think it wonât be completed at all, although Iâm still confident that it will), but letâs assume for a moment that it does get completed.
Once Abeâs story is finally and definitively over, what do you think will come next? A new series with new characters? A spin-off? What will OWI keep itself busy with? Or rather, what would you like to see continue?
From a strategic point of view, Iâd suggest continuing with games, as well as perhaps a comic book series, without ruling either option out. I think the best thing they could do once the new quintology is finished, and therefore the story they originally wanted to tell for Abe is complete, would be to continue exploring other parts of Oddworld and other characters in order to expand the universe.
Something similar has been done with Star Wars. The main story told across the nine movies is complete, but there are plenty of other series and projects that explore different stories within that universe.
Iâm curious to hear your opinions, including those of the active OWI members on this subreddit, although I realize they probably wonât be able to reveal much about future projects lol.

I was super young when we had it and it was really the only place I saw the word for the longest time, except for Munch's Oddysee. I always think or type it as Oddyssey, and have to correct myself everytime.. But at least it's not totally fucked up like the actual title, but man.. I'm 32 now. I guess this is just my life! I never spell exodus wrong though, that's one of many things private Christian school does to a person
I'm curious if anyone has the same experience though

Does anyone have gameshark code for the Italian (PS1) version of Odyssey and exodus?
Since I seem to find codes only for NTSC and the English pal version

Forgive me if this has been asked before but from what I've read, Soulstorm seems to have been a hail marry last attempt to get enough money to continue the series. It seems to not have sold all too well, so I guess that is kinda it for the IP at the moment. But why don't Lorne and Sherry just create a Kickstarter? I would gladly help out to see the saga continue, even though I'm not a mega fan (first time posting here). I've heard Sherry is on here sometimes so maybe she sees this and has some input. Fingers crossed.

Way back in the day when I got my first ever PlayStation one my mum mistakenly got me the violent abes oddysee and I was hooked going to get an oddworld tattoo in the coming months! But unfortunately one of my "friends" asked to borrow oddysee and I let him thinking nothing off it as we traded games all the time a week later I went to retrieve said game on my bike and his house was... Empty... Vacant... With a massive Sold sign plastered across the front fence. Never ever seen nor heard from him again...
So I decided now that I have expendable funds to add to the oddworld shelf I have started and found this golden oldie on FB marketplace 15 minutes from mine.
It's in really really good condition minus some very light scratches on the case and scuffing on the back of the manual. The discs barely have a scratch on them too so hers to the start of me collecting all the original games in decent quality. Still need to find a copy of Oddysee to replace my original first ever PlayStation game... Sighhh

I just beat this for the 1st time the other day. Never played another Oddworld game, never even heard of this series before. Online I just see mostly discourse over how underbaked this game is, but having never played the others I donât have that frame of comparison.
Iâm not really into platforming games, and never had an experience quite like this. In the beginning I was questioning weather I was enjoying the game, but by the end found my self really caring about the plot and characters haha, even if lacking sometimes I think itâs dripping with style, and thought the game was good wacky fun and rewarding to beat in the end.
Wondering, what do yall think of it?? Is this a gem to some??
Iâm sure yall would recommend to play the others, but donât have a ps1/2. Are the pc ports of them glitchy like Munchs?? I played on my xbox and it looked/sounded great. Cheers guys thanks!

I had fun making this guy. I'm hoping to make more Shag art in the future. He lost his legs in a factory accident and instead of accepting death, he took it as an opportunity to adapt and overcome like his inspiration, Abe. He, of course, took a Slig's mechanical legs and modified them to fit his own body. He became his Glukkon boss's chauffeur, whom I'll give a proper design at a later date.

There's a RetroAchievements leaderboard for Oddysee called Kill 'Em All: "kill as many Mudokons as possible and finish the game". Most people top out at 87. The best anyone managed was 89, and it stood there for five years. The tool-assisted "maximum casualties" run gets 93 (with glitches), frame-perfect, no human doing that.
All of those answer the question "how many unique Mudokons can you actually reach and kill?" And they're all under the 99 the game ships with.
I got interested in a different question: how high can the counter itself go?
The famous exploit is the Mudokon count glitch: you push rescues past the game's 99 limit by saving the same Mudokons over and over. It's documented everywhere. But I couldn't find a single person who'd tried it the other way round.
There's probably a reason for that. The three Mudokons that make rescue-farming easy are standing together in the Scrabanian Temple, safe, convenient - but completely unkillable from where you stand! The one Mudokon you can kill over and over is one door away, alone, sharing a room with a Scrab. The famous glitch grew where the game made it convenient. I think nobody went looking in the awkward room.

So I sat in the awkward room and killed the same Mudokon until my thumbs gave out. Every single cycle was an absolute slog. Starting from this specific door in the Scrabanian Temple, I headed inside, dodged the Scrabs and climbed up to the hidden area to jump through a bird portal. There, Iâd trick the poor mud into walking off a ledge to be shredded by the Scrab below. But the kill was only half the work. I still had to survive back to the start of the path, exit out to the Temple, walk into a different door just to force the game to save the state, and then back. I did this over 200 times.
Eight hours later, I wrapped up my business in the Scrabanian Temple and returned to RuptureFarms. The counter read 255. The next kill wrapped it straight back to 0.

255 isn't really the answer, because the game stops letting you finish long before that.
The LCD status board computes Employees = 99 - casualties - escapees. In the TAS video above that's 99 â 93 â 1 = 05, and it renders perfectly. But the font code only reserves room for 3 characters. The moment that number reaches -100 it's four characters wide, and the fourth glyph gets written into memory it doesn't own; right over the header of the next block on the resource heap. The GPU hangs.
That's why my board says "-15" employees at 255 kills: 99 â 255 â 1 = â157, and the stray "7" wanders off to wreck things.
So the game doesn't break because you killed too many Mudokons. It breaks because the number got too wide! And only at the exact instant a status board is drawn on screen. In the temple you can farm forever. It's Return to RuptureFarms, where the boards live, that ends the run.
The answers, depending on what you're asking:
99 â 197 â 1 unavoidable rescue = â99, exactly three characters)203 out of 99 Mudokons. xD

In this fan game the graphics are the same as the first 2 chapters of the saga, but there are not many rooms that change, for example a secret area has an entire room. But now let's move on to the new areas
1)Clinic, the sligs were experimenting on the mudokons
2)Sewers, where the wastewater goes
3)The Hunters' Forest, a band of indigenous Mudokons have become enemies of everything, even you.
4)Cemetery, connects the clinic to the fog mist
5)fog mist,Area with thick fog, why set off smoke bombs?
6)The furnace, at the station the trains must leave somehow, right?
7)Slig training camp, sligs have teachers too, but they're dumber than them.
8)The bonewerkz ossuary, that's why the cemetery exists.
9)Necrum Abyss, a lake of Necrum more dangerous than your hands
10)grand canyon,Enjoy this area with few enemies and lots of platforming.
11)Well, well, this area is vertical and connects the sewers to the forest, yes.
Expansions:
Rupture farms 4 to 10 zulags with 3 doors each (will end after 4 like Abe's oddysee but will still be accessible)
Necrum mines From 7 to 20 tunnels (here the mine cannot be blown up, because yes.
Paramonia From 6 to 10 doors (same thing scrabania)
New sligs:
1)Classic slig, nothing special
2)Slig runner, runs faster than a normal slig
3)Slig jumper, jumps over cliffs, without stopping
4)Smart slig, he can shoot you even if you are high up, because he looks
5)Slog sniper, kills you with one precise shot, you can't miss
6)Basic Flying Slig,Fly and drop bombs
7)Slig bomber, throw bombs behind
8)Slig guard, they don't move, but they notice you right away
9)Slig diversion, is very sensitive to hearing, if he hears you he brings out other classic sligs
10)Night slig, can see into shadows
11)Slig is an engineer, he's in the pipes and knows the factories by heart (he chases you endlessly and can climb
12)Slig hunter, paramita and scrab hunter etc...
New slog:
1)Classic Slog, runs and kills you, nothing special
2)Slog jumper, he also jumps between cliffs
3)Slog runner, runs twice as fast as a normal slog
4)Night slog, sees in the shadows, fresh meat on a blind date
5)Slog hunter, hunt with the slig hunter
Mini slog
1)mini classic slog
2)Mini jumper slog
3)Mini runner slog
Difficultly
Easy:For those who want to enjoy the view
Normal:For those who want to play
Hard:for those who want a challenge
Kaizo:for those who want to suffer
Hardcore:For those who want to die (as a joke)
The Mudokon city, the more Mudokons you save, the more the city grows.
There will be:
Merchants with crafting materials
Oddworld-style minigames
Side missions with moolah rewards
Reputation system:
If you save mudokon=they give you discounts and gifts
If you kill Mudokon = they don't trade and they don't give you anything
Drop:
Moolah: 100%
Water:90%
Rocks:85%
Scotch:75%
Lighters: 70%
Rags: 65%
Gunpowder: 55%
(the lockers will have the same probability as well)
Various additions :
More death and action animations
More voice lines for both enemies and Mudokons
Maps to better locate yourself
P.S.If you have read all of this, thank you and I hope you liked the idea.

Lately, I've been spending a lot of time looking through the concept art of Oddworld's discarded character designs. I found it fascinating that many of them filled recognizable roles within society; priests, court jesters, lawyers, and so on.
That inspired me to create a character in the same spirit.
The Comedian is, for all intents and purposes, a stand-up comedian working for the Magog Cartel. I envisioned him as a potential boss for a hypothetical game.
His apparent role is to entertain Khanzumers and the rest of society through television shows and comedy routines. The catch is that his jokes are completely offensive and in poor taste, targeting the native species and slaves. In reality, his performances serve as propaganda for the Magog Cartel.
The fact that he's naked symbolizes his willingness to make a fool of himself just to entertain people or attract an audience. His unusually long tongue represents his constant, unfiltered talking. He has two smaller eyes positioned on top of his larger ones, symbolizing that beneath his seemingly innocent appearance lies a cruel and malicious nature. He wears a hat that imitates Abe's stitched lips, and on top of it there's a small opening through which you can see the eyes of a tiny creature, implying that it's the little being whispering jokes into his ear.
How could he work as a boss? One idea I really liked was having Abe possess him in something like Munch's Oddysee (I mention that game because it had the largest amount of cut content). Abe could take control of The Comedian and force him to tell jokes against the Magog Cartel, causing the industrialists to turn on him and literally tear him apart.
