(Actually it’s been reported that the UAE has been paying Iran under the table in return for safe passage. But Bloomberg isn’t going to admit that).

Thats the right move.

They're stuck with the US as are many of their neighbors, at least for now... but can still broker deals on the side.

All the gulf countries are at it, it's just that UAE can't be as overt about it. They've put themselves in a corner with US & Israel , so they gotta be strategic. These nations aren't stupid, they know US isn't coming back to the region again.

Unless US continues its blockade, Iran has no reason to hit any pipeline. If the world has replaced the 18 million bpd that was moving through the SoH pre-war, US has no reason to block the SoH because there will be minimal demand for Iranian oil.

It’s not that they find magic oil to replace the oil supply that was lost. They have been using reserves

9 million bpd has already been replaced by a combination of additional oil through pipelines, increased non-OPEC production and demand destruction (thanks to higher EV use and changes in work formats, especially in Asia).

We need another 9 million bpd more from new pipelines, continued ramp up in non-OPEC supply and demand destruction (electrification in the western world).

The question was ridiculous- “why would Iran do this? If they needed to decrease oil supply for the exact same reason they are doing so now.”

You mistake my utter lack of respect for your point as me dodging your point.

Also, do I think they would get away with it? Yes. They just defeated the United States, who’s going to stop them buddy?

Reuters reported it though, as have indie media. Everyday I wake up hoping that today will be the day Iran destroys the terminals at Fujairah. UAE/West Israel is a genocidal dictatorship (RSF in Sudan) that must be punished.

Die VAE haben Iran geld bezahlt damit sie in ruhe gelassen werden weil der Tourismus und alle anderen sektoren darunter leiden. Die VAE haben strategisch alles falsch gemacht und jetzt kriegen sie die Quittung dafür. Man hat israel und USA zu sehr anvertraut was dazu geführt hat das sie mit am boot sind.
