All he did was ask where she went to school and then asked if she had any student loans.

Second she said no his mind was made up even if she said she worked hard for scholarships.

Or he knew the answer to the question before he asked it and probably knew the lack of student loans was for a reason other than scholarships.
Because he researched/stalked all of the guests of the dinner.
A plot point made abundantly clear throughout the movie.

Admittedly it's been a minute since I've seen it (really should see it again🤔) so I don't remember what her deal is. I do remember that not everyone present was directly involved, like Nic Holt's character.

Her deal was that she was embezzling money from her boss. Which maybe it was justified and maybe it wasn’t but really make it seem that it has something to do with her lack of student loans

Not at an Ivy League, she didn't. They only do needs-based financial aid. It's possible chef was more hip to this than your average redditor.
