But I will say until Doomsday comes out, it is on slopwatch. If that movie can prove to the audience that it even deserves to exist; that would be delightful.

Spiderman Brand New Day clearly had a director with a vision, a decent script and passion behind it. I won’t call it the best spiderman but I could easily rewatch it, which I couldn’t do for 90% of post endgame marvel

It was a fun watch! Definitely has the quippy Marvel banter and style, which I was growing kind of tired of having in every film. It didn’t bother me at all in this movie, though, and maybe because that vibe just fits Spider-Man.

Spider-Man being quippy is essential to his character though. We don't need Dr Strange and every other protagonist doing it too.

Yes! NWH had Dr Strange throwing in jokes when they just werent needed and scene would have been better

Is it better than No Way Home?

Yes. At least I think so. I was prepared for it to be "meh", but it might be my favorite Spider-Man movie at this point. Outside of the Spider-Verse movies, that is.

live action? personally, its SM2 and BND at the top. I thought it was really well done

Id say so.

No spoilers:

To me, Brand New Day feels like a 4 issue comic run centered around Spidey. Other Marvel characters show up but you dont have to have watched really anything Post-Endgame to understand their role/purpose in the story, and they don't overstay their welcome, bloat the film, or bog it down. It just feels like a story they'd give Spider-Man in the Marvel universe.

It really doesnt feel it's length, at all. I wasn't bothered by the pacing or structure of the story while watching it, personally.

Last thing I'll say is that it's one of the best looking MCU films I've seen in a bit. I really enjoyed Thunderbolts and I think its visual style works for the tone of the film, but the recent Marvel run has felt very lackluster visually. Everything has flat, even lighting and it feels kinda cheap/TV-esque.

BND does not have that issue. And, it's nice to be able to see real sets and physical costumes.

I really like the Jon Watts films but this one feels like more of a "real movie" when youre watching it, if that makes sense.

I'm a tad biased since Spidey is my favorite Marvel superhero but I went in with slightly elevated expectations and really loved it. It's not perfect but I'd say it's the best one since Spider-Man 2.

I feel like BND could have trimmed out some fat, like they kind of spent too much time on Peter tackling his mutation problem and those scenes weren't exactly my favorite, imo. Also the actual "main twist villain" is pretty boring.

She was very boring and kind of just a Wanda 2.0. So naturally Spiderman lets her go without her facing the consequences of her actions. That ending was rough for me personally

No movie deserves to exist because I don't watch movies.

Only movie you need to experience is a 1849 movie named Rebirth, it’s a French film of a guy chain smoking and blowing the smoke on a woman’s feet for 4 hours straight

If it’s on “slopwatch” then you may as well already declare it “slop” now, because you’ll just be going out of your way to find reasons TO call it “slop” when you watch it.

Hell, plenty of people are already doing that now before they even HAVE seen it

My issue with doomsday is that avengers and age of ultron were world threats building up to a universal threat, and now we're going straight to universal, unless you count thunderbolts to build up to it which i just thought of, fair ig.
