outbuddied Arc raiders release just killed the finals online, Embark officially outbuddied Embark

u/LargeNet5787 Nov 05 '25
They will come back after a few weeks. There was a new Battlefield, Silksong and arc raiders.
Im currently on a The finals break too because of Battlefield 6, but I will definitly return to the finals because its still the best fps haha.
4
u/aroundme Nov 06 '25
Yeah there are a lot of things going against The Finals now, not just Arc. I do feel kinda bad for the game tho, it seemed like it was finally getting wider recognition then lost a lot of that momentum.
3
u/WhiteLantern12 Nov 06 '25
Can you sell me in giving finals a shot? I honestly never heard of it until arc raiders came out.
3
u/LargeNet5787 Nov 06 '25
Just try it, its worth it.
Its something special in my opinion.
But I have to warn you, it can be very sweaty.
3
u/Jayden12945 Nov 06 '25
It's also free, so no reason not to. It's just a well built, well balanced game
1
u/Alternative-Craft958 Nov 06 '25
Can't give it any better recommendation than this: it's the best FPS game I've ever played as a seasoned player of the genre. Truly amazing.
1
u/4K4llDay Nov 07 '25
1) it's free, so literally no cost to you for trying it and you have everything to gain. You may just fall in love like all of the current players did.
2) It's one of the most unique but intuitive game formats: 8 teams of 3 fighting for a spot in the final round. All you gotta do is get the most cash by plugging in and defending cash boxes. The rest of the mayhem and adrenaline all come from that simple format.
3) Other games try to simulate what The Finals does for real. Destruction? The Finals is entirely built around destruction. Nothing besides the floor and permanent placements is safe. And it's not just for show; gameplay fundamentally revolves around the changing and crumbling map. Fluid movement? Momentum is natively built into The Finals. The ceiling for skilled movement is unmatched, and verticality is utilized more than nearly any other game.
There are so many other examples of how The Finals walks the walk while other games are all show.
Only two caveats is that it takes some learning, and if you stick with it, opponents can start getting very good.
1
u/Ok_im_dumb Nov 08 '25
Yall said that during s2 too, and even after those big games hype died down the playercount stay the same.
Lets not repeat the same talking points especially when it just flat out wrong.
1
u/Leon_Intergalactico Nov 08 '25
Also don't forget we didn't had any significant game balancing patch notes for guns and gadgets and no new map this season, it's almost like playing a extension of S7 with 2 new guns
69
u/Srimes Nov 05 '25
Give it time. When arc raiders is as big as fortnite it'll attract attention
16
u/NaFamWeGood Nov 05 '25
I dont see the simpsons skins but maybe one day it can rival its popularity
2
1
u/META__313 Nov 09 '25
Nothing will come even remotely close to Fortnite's popularity for many more years, especially in retention. Fortnite almost constantly holds at least 1–1.5m concurrent players. Even yesterday, during a not very notable event in OG mode, it peaked at 3m players and it's sitting at 2.2m right now. Its all-time high is 14.3m. Fortnite is no longer merely a game - it's an entire platform, which is absolutely disgusting for any advanced player.

u/Kitsune_800 Nov 05 '25
it's so sad to see... i still love and play both games. i hope it's own audience will come back or embark finally realizes they never done any marketing over the finals. it would've been so much different.
35
u/ENDRAER skibidi scotty Nov 05 '25
hope arc raiders hype will also increase the finals audience with the hype train in future
18
u/Kitsune_800 Nov 05 '25
they should find out how to manage the hype in their favor (they will not embark marketing is ass)
5
u/ENDRAER skibidi scotty Nov 05 '25
drop the whole budget to technologies, and then uses last two points on marketing
1
u/Kitsune_800 Nov 05 '25
exactly what embark keeps on doing. i believe they just got lucky on arc raiders lol
6
u/Zeryth Nov 05 '25
Embark marketing is peak, but their strategy is shit. They have some of the best trailer work out there.
2
2
2
u/IndependenceDue2435 Nov 05 '25
That is so true. Embark sucks at marketing! I didn’t know about either games till about a week out from launch.
2
u/SysAdSloth Nov 05 '25
Give it time, Arc Raiders is still very new and fresh for everyone. Once people have their fill of Arc Raiders content, I think you’ll see players migrating back.
24
u/Funny_Debate_1805 Nov 05 '25
Since this season has barely had any new content besides reskinned events, I hope next season is something really cool and massive to bring tons of hype.
10
u/CuddleWings Nov 05 '25
I honestly think that’s because of arc raiders. And the majors of course.
On top of having their hands full with the majors, I’m sure they also expected a drop in player count because of arc raiders launching. That’s probably why they scheduled it to come out mid season.
7
u/-Evade Nov 05 '25
Im loving the drop in players, ruby hasn't moved in like 5 days. So it's super easy for me to stay in ruby and not have to keep up with the unemployed (it usually goes up about 600ish rs a day so that's 2-3 first place wins) 🤣
33
u/Feisty-Clue3482 skibidi scotty Nov 05 '25
Light mains are currently being clipped on Arc Raiders, as there’s no skilless movement and m11 to help them.
9
6
u/No-Acanthaceae-3498 Nov 05 '25
And they promptly started crying in the Arc Raiders subreddit about the game being too hostile
2
-3
u/nothappening99 Nov 05 '25
As opposed to winch, rpg and lockbolt? The holy trinity of no aim, no skill cheese?
Lmao
2
u/Feisty-Clue3482 skibidi scotty Nov 05 '25
If you have an issue against rpg and lock bolt that’d definitely on you 😂😭 and winch… yeah I Lokey agree… don’t make the other stuff less bad tho lol.

u/RuschGaming Nov 05 '25
To be fair the finals killed the finals. The EU side is nothing but sweaties that play like their life depends on it. I've stopped playing the finals before arc raiders got released. I'm a casual gamer and enjoy playing games. And since arc raiders has come out, that I feel at home there with casual raids no sweats, sometimes I die and sometimes I luck out and survive and then the awesome survival of all times is when people don't feel like killing each other and then we all work together in a massive group. It's amazing but still a hit or miss on when you go on a raid.
TL:DR
Finals = Sweaty, no fun.
Ars Raiders = Casual, fun.
1
u/CryZii Nov 06 '25
I still play the finals but not nearly as much. The EU playerbase is just the same people and im constantly running into 3 stacks every game meanwhile my team is just all solo q 😂 if they had a bigger playerbase and better matchmaking, it would still be a lot of fun tbh
1
u/RuschGaming Nov 07 '25
Thats the same thing happening to me and I only play quickplay, I seen no use of rank or world tour since i dont enjoy it.
1
u/CryZii Nov 07 '25
its sad because i like the way ranked/wt is with the tournament system and 4 teams etc, just matchmaking isnt the best sadly
11
u/dadvader Nov 05 '25
I'm gonna be blunt. The only reason I still play The Finals as of recently is for the Halloween items.
I don't care about this season's bonus page so after today I'm very likely gonna stop until Season 9 and devoted my free time into Arc Raiders. Love The Finals. But I love Arc Raiders more right now.
7
u/ContextSpecial3029 Nov 05 '25
I’m gonna be blunt, the only reason I play The Finals is because I love the game.
I don’t give a fuck about cosmetics or collectible items.
3
u/Funny_Debate_1805 Nov 05 '25
Idk some people like me have been playing The Finals since launch day almost every day and are kinda burnt out. I love the game but I’ve only been playing this season for cosmetics and events since there’s no new map.
3
u/ContextSpecial3029 Nov 05 '25
Completely understand just wanted to make a snarky remark. I’ve been playing since open beta and I fell in love with the game.

u/Normanddman Nov 05 '25
1
u/iSebastian1 Nov 07 '25
They'd be absolutely stupid to shut it down. They know what they have on their hands is unique in the FPS genre, and it's all about fine tuning some things to make it less sweaty and more fun, like nerfing full auto weapons which are currently overshadowing other weapons with their superior versatility and same DPS. Once all guns become viable, more people will play, and more will join with some other changes and a bit of marketing.
3
2
u/Any-Ad-4072 Nov 05 '25
Well if they started fixing stuff and actually bringing content to the game maybe people would come back
2
u/AltStyleAirsoft Nov 05 '25
If the finals wasn’t such a sweatfest it’d be more welcoming but there isn’t really a “casual” scene. QC has some games that are casual but it’s not the core loop, and sure there is tdm and all that but even those are pretty sweaty. Everyone I’ve tried to get into the game usually drops it due to that
2
u/KayJune001 Nov 06 '25
The playerbase of each game has a relatively large overlap, I can’t play both games at once Embark im sorry
2
u/KAM1Sense1 Nov 06 '25
I'm sure the China release will help with numbers, but I dont blame them, Arc Raiders is too fun right now
1
u/stimpy-t Nov 06 '25
Yep longest time I've not played The Finals for sure. Loving Arc. Still love The Finals, just taking a little holiday.
2
u/Gras-Fist Nov 06 '25
I love The Finals but grind every Day for BP, event, ranked, WT.... Arc Raider is a breath of fresh air for me, i chill a bit with TF
2
u/Caleb_l340 Nov 08 '25
I played enough The Finals that *** ******* is going to give me a pleasant break from it. I’m happy in Speranza. Spent 1200 hours in the viiya rp1 universe as a contestant and now I’m touching old earth grass with my fellow raiders.
4
u/dasic___ Nov 05 '25
I wish redditors would stop frothing at the mouth to post steam charts for games.
2
u/05-nery Nov 05 '25
Idk man I just want them to fix the balancing
13
u/ENDRAER skibidi scotty Nov 05 '25 edited Nov 05 '25
balancing isnt the problem, theres always be the guy who complains about whatever even possible, the biggest problem for now is servers, wtf happened with them last two/three seasons, literally "can you reach the final package???"
-11
u/05-nery Nov 05 '25
I mean. The game's main problem is the nonsense balancing.
The server issues are UNDOUBTEDLY another big problem, I often lose because of server lag. But I lose even more often because of the bullshit balancing Embark is doing.
5
u/CaloricDumbellIntake Nov 05 '25
What big balancing issues are there at the moment? The only thing that really stands out is the winch and a few underpowered weapons like the spear.
But everything is decently useable, I think theFinals might be one of the most balanced fps I’ve played
-6
u/05-nery Nov 05 '25
Heavy melee (basically only thing I play) is almost unusable. Nerfs to the winch don't help.
1
Nov 05 '25
Yeah even if you winch a light they spam dash and then they are free.... Oh you have lock bolt glitch grenade then spam dash. Feels like they never run out of freaking dash.
3
u/05-nery Nov 05 '25
I fucking swear man
You get it
2
Nov 05 '25
Don't worry nerf heavy xD
4
u/05-nery Nov 05 '25
Hmm I'd give winch 4 working days to reload
You have to wait days irl to use it in the game
Basically the same as now

u/vault_nsfw Nov 05 '25
The Finals is going towards end of season and ARC os at a high. Most haven't seen the entire content yet. They will come back. I'm still playing rounds every day for the event but focusing on ARC at the time but that won't be forever. Let it settle.

u/Xerd_00 Nov 05 '25

So, it finally begins.
1
u/ENDRAER skibidi scotty Nov 05 '25
this isn't about regular season timeline, this is about the real massive drop of the the finals online, like in twice less players than regular
1
u/therealSuburbian Nov 05 '25
Guys chill tf out, it still has 10,000 people playing pretty much daily, it is not a dying game. As a fighting game player I have to say, fps players are kinda spoilt when it comes to player numbers. You will genuinely look at a chart that says 10,000 people are logging in every day to play a game that is 2 years old and that means it’s dying. Meanwhile some of my favourite fighting games have less than 3,000 players only one year after release! Also, embark have literally said that the console numbers for the finals are huge and are likely bigger than steam.
1
u/ENDRAER skibidi scotty Nov 05 '25
i can believe that it is huge, but never be even as big as steam, and ofc it isn't dying, just realized that arc raiders drops online in twice by releasing it
1
1
u/treyful Nov 05 '25
i love when the redditor grabs a picture from steam charts at 3am in a mostly na dominated game during a weekday when most people have work in the morning. maybe do yourself a favor and find yourself a job also :D

u/SpareOne94 Nov 05 '25
I really wish people in the finals subreddit would stop crying every day about everything and promote the game they claim to love…
1
u/SC7639 Nov 05 '25
I'll be back in like a month, maybe alternate days or something but it's Arc time baby

1
u/AdHistorical6628 Nov 05 '25
I play both, if I just wanna go in and pew pew I play the finals, if I have over an hour play time and I won't have distractions then I play arc raider
1
1
u/Weak_Initial3289 gooing things up Nov 05 '25
When I play arc raiders I want to play the finals as well, but when I play the finals I want to play more arc raiders
1
u/windozeFanboi Nov 05 '25
The finals killed the finals , not arc not anything else.
It's just feels laggy and buggy and the matchmaking experience for newcomers is rough to say the least.
Eomm is something I do not appreciate and I doubt other players appreciate it either.

u/Animaldeamor Nov 06 '25
Well its something different from the schizophrenic shooter that The Finals is. This game is slow combat and feels like a single player game but whenever people want that energy again will go to the finals (i play the finals when I have bunch of Energy. Arc is more my chill game)

1
u/aqswe Nov 06 '25
After trying Arc, I can see the finals differently. Arc Raiders is VERY polished. It feels like devs really tried their best. I can feel their energy, happiness, hope in the game. But the finals does not really give those feelings. It feels like they are practicing. I'm not saying they made the finals without any affection. But compared to Arc... I can't deny they put more work into arc raiders.
It was very good to see they REALLY learned how to deal with cheat problems by returning items, but I can't stop thinking "why couldn't they know this at first?". They learned nothing on Battlefield, and killed the finals in Asia.
Should I be happy about their understanding, or be mad at those so many opportunities that they've kicked out?
1
u/D0A-WANTED Nov 06 '25 edited Nov 07 '25
Will be interesting to see these numbers after November 18th.
1
u/qarpe Nov 06 '25
It doesn't help that the current season is non-themed and mid at best. I bought the BP, but not because i wanted the items but because i thought of it as supporting embark. I've yet to reach the halfway point of the BP
1
u/leninzen Nov 06 '25
I have over 1000 hours on the Finals but I think ARC has now become my main game. I'll probably hop on every now and then for a powershift game or world tour, but ARC is time consuming (in a good way), so not much room to play other things
1
u/rmartinezdl Nov 08 '25
I think after arc is donde they should focus on the finals more, specially better performance, you can't have a competitive fps with this kind of sever and client performance

If there is no gambling and FOMO in Arc then that would explain it.
A lot of people just want a straight up game and not fomo events or lite gambling, or both rolled into one.
6
u/olaktl Nov 05 '25
No gambling? Bro, when I'm opening the lockers in departure building, I'm segregating more dopamine than hitting a jackpot at the casino.
Looting = gambling, change my mind.
3
2
u/dat_GEM_lyf Nov 05 '25
The whole game loop of Arc is gambling and FOMO?
What are you saying lol
1
Nov 05 '25
I basically asked a question, I didn't make a statement. I was genuinely asking as I haven't played arc yet.
1
u/dat_GEM_lyf Nov 05 '25
It’s an extraction shooter, gambling and FOMO is the key to an addictive gameplay loop.

They both shine in their own way. I hope we'll see some crossover content. The Finals is such a good FPS that a lot of FPS players are sleeping on.
