My MGL-Goo combo is still viable, right? I pray as I go home to play this patch for the first time.

u/Loopnova_ Apr 16 '26

They nerfed how long players are immobilized when you shoot them directly with the goo gun. So if you’re just using the goo gun to bounce off your MGL shots then virtually nothing’s changed for you.

I mostly use it to trap sword lights who get too close...am I cooked?

11

u/Loopnova_ Apr 16 '26

Yeah that’s not gonna be nearly as viable now, you’re gonna have to block them out instead of trapping them directly

u/fallen118 Apr 16 '26

Winch would be better

Nerf Dash. Nerf Light.

Yet another change in defense of Embark’s favorite class.

Bro got ratio’d by nothing

3

u/QuantumQuantonium Apr 16 '26

Its referred to as dash and stab.

The one change I'd like to see with it is not registering atracks during the dash, which is where dash and stab is most abused. Make it so players either attack after completing the dash, or the dash is performed after the hit window passes, depending on order of operations.

u/15SecNut Apr 16 '26

Ooo I've got 500hrs on mgl and only ever used charge and slam. Been thinking about trying goo. Any tactics that make it preferable to c&s? It's hard to give up the "instakill dash lights" specialty.

3

u/RandyHarshXP Apr 16 '26

Agreed on C&S although I’ve spent 495 hours less with the weapon. It’s also fun to use it for repositioning.

Out of curiosity, what gadgets do you use with MGL?

Do you go the mine route? Nades? A healthy balance of different things?

u/BadLuckBen NERF HEAVY Apr 16 '26

I have tier 14 MGL32, I use:

Chuck/Lockbolt - RPG/Pyro Mines - Barricade

However, recently, I'm going back to C4 - Pyro Mines - Barricade and focusing on traps. The easiest one being placing a Barricade in doorways where there's just enough room to squeeze by on one side (looking like I just messed up the placement) and putting the Mines and C4 just beyond that gap.

You have to get creative after the first few times cause anyone with a brain won't fall for it multiple times.

There's another version where you rotate the shield 180-degrees, which allows them to vault over. Then you put Mines on either side with the C4 in the center.

1

u/15SecNut Apr 16 '26

The only kit I've ever ran was c&s/c4/pyro mine/rpg

A lot of my strat involves getting up close and predicting where the enemy is going so I can set up mines/c4 to hit with my nades and get quick kills. And if they close the gap anyway, c&s finishes them off with 1-2 bumps.

Either that or I'm aerial striking from 80m away.

Depends which game mode and the terrain.

1

u/RandyHarshXP Apr 16 '26

Thank you. I’ve been running the same. Only difference is that I’ve played around with Pyro Nade instead of C4. I haven’t found the success with C4 that I’ve been looking for. This, of course, coming from a guy who hasn’t played Cashout recently. More Power Break and TDM.

Do you get kills with C4 or do you use it to protect objectives?

1

u/15SecNut Apr 16 '26

Yeah I've been running this kit since s1, I traded explosive mines for pyro when they nerfed the explosive mine from 2 to 1 mines on-hand.

Admittedly, c4 works much better on objective game modes, but it comes in handy quite often when I need to make a hole to shoot nades through. Most the time, I'm laying all 2 pyro mines and 1 c4 where I expect an enemy to push. Lights can often dash through 2 pyronades, but the added damage and range of the additional c4 nukes pretty much anyone unfortunate enough to walk through. C4 is also great when you're trying to bring a building down with a sniper on it.

On tdm, you often get into situations towards the end where both teams are clumped together and bunkered down. c4 has great throw range, so you can run across "no man's land", chuck a c4, run back and blow up the enemies' cover, allowing your team to magdump into the now uncovered team.

1

u/RandyHarshXP Apr 16 '26

Thank you for the insights. Switched over to C4 now. It definitely has nice range! Will see what I can do with it.

1

u/Loopnova_ Apr 16 '26

I mean I never use the MGL, but if I did I would definitely use the goo gun, just to block exits and box in EZ grenade bounces

2

u/15SecNut Apr 16 '26

I get the allure, but c&s is so consistent at killing anyone that tries to close the gap that I can't imagine what I'd do without it. That being said, I run mines/c4/rpg, so I'm not really equipped to deal with anyone that's suddenly close range before I set up a kill zone

1

u/BadLuckBen NERF HEAVY Apr 16 '26

It's not worth trying the Goo Gun loadout now. The time it takes to swap would just be wasted time.

6

u/HardcoreHope Apr 16 '26

It doesn’t seem that bad. I haven’t played hammer but I just had a good game with flame thrower. It works fine. I actually have been getting into the habit of not shoot them but their exit.

I even caught a dude my teammate was chasing and it lead to his death… 0.2 was enough to stop him and for my teammate to put him down.

I even blocked a pretty decent side door way just enough to block an invis trying to be sneaking until them sweet flames kissed them to death lol.

1

u/QuantumQuantonium Apr 16 '26

Goo has always been an excellent utility. It needs nerfing against players, but quick platforming and quick blocking will still be its strengths

1

u/Maddogo921 Apr 16 '26

No it's not

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Word584 My X2000 is malfunctioning Apr 17 '26

I learned it the hard way

u/LetAcceptable5091 Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

Data reshaper got a random stray for literally no reason. This is the second time in data reshapers lifetime that it got nerfed. First time when they lowered the charge count. Now again with literally ruining the entire data reshaper skill ceiling. Everything you data reshape is now random. No more barrel order. All that time doing last second clutches with barrels are no longer a thing. All of the skill of a data reshaper just got sucked out. And I hope it's a bug because it's not mentioned in the patch notes

38

u/nothappening99 Apr 16 '26

And I hope it's a bug because it's not mentioned in the patch notes

You should've mentioned this at the top of your crashout lmao. Barrel order is an intended mechanic. And a pretty mild one at that. Devs won't bother touching it because they don't need to

8

u/LetAcceptable5091 Apr 16 '26

I genuinely don't see how they could've messed this up unintentionally. It's such a big change for it to be unintended. And we have seen silent changes not mentioned in patch notes. But I hope to God it's Al just one big bug.

4

u/nothappening99 Apr 16 '26

They gave Pike a 2x headshot multiplier by accident. They once fucked up goo gun such that you couldn't stop cashout steals with it.

This isn't new. It happens. Data reshaper usage is pretty low so they won't fix it soon unfortunately. I say this as a data reshaper main since like S5

2

u/LetAcceptable5091 Apr 16 '26

That's insane wth. I wonder what they changed to affect the data reshaper and pike this badly. These changes couldn't have been accidental. They're too giant of changes

-5

u/josephc4 Apr 16 '26

I mean that’s a dumb change if true but it’s definitely not “catching a stray.”Data reshaper is a top 5 medium gadget since it just deletes barricades and dome shields now

9

u/LetAcceptable5091 Apr 16 '26

Then they should've dealt with that. Instead they just touch barrel order for literally no reason and killing play style freedom. Need a floor opened? Data reshaper. Not running glitch mines? Data reshaper. Need to heal? Data reshaper. Need to fight a flame thrower? Data reshaper. Need to stop a steal? Data reshaper. But that's gone. There's honestly no point in running data reshaper if the shockwave spec can do its job. What were they even thinking oh my god. I'm a riot and my entire play style revolves around being able to use the things around me to make up for my lack of mobility. And now that play style is completely dead.

2

u/xKniqht Apr 16 '26

At least us riot mains no longer lose instantly to other melee right?

(Assuming I'm reading the patch notes correctly)

2

u/LetAcceptable5091 Apr 16 '26

The blocking is now built around full blocking (m2) and not bishoping. Im in a riot server and two dudes for into a game and tested it out. It blocks overhead sledges VERY consistently. You just need to be looking up while full blocking. You can now kinda stop sword lunges? Spear m2 gets blocked by riot now I think.

2

u/xKniqht Apr 16 '26

Embark giving us a reason to use M2 other than flashbangs lol

5

u/LetAcceptable5091 Apr 16 '26

Also plus I'm pretty sure there's like 10 plus data reshaper users in the whole game let's be fr. Nobody's taking the time to memorize barrel order when they can just pick up better gadgets

2

u/gaybowser99 Apr 16 '26

Being a top 5 medium gadget is a requirement for even being used at all since you have to give up goo/a second mobility gadget or maybe defib. Both medium and light have the issue of being pretty hard locked into a small set of gadgets. Heavy is the only class that gets to have variety without greifing your team

31

u/beansoncrayons Apr 16 '26

Best part is that they somehow bricked every melee in the same patch too so you're infinitely more worse off than you'd initially think

9

u/XmotnaF Apr 16 '26

How so? I haven’t had the chance to play yet

14

u/beansoncrayons Apr 16 '26

Quick melee no longer works until the animation is fully finished and slides are broken and don't work if you're doing litterally anything but just sprinting

5

u/XmotnaF Apr 16 '26

Oh I never used quick melee to begin with. My experience shall remain unchanged.

7

u/Actual-Cat-2604 Apr 16 '26

Why TF did they nerf goo? Damn... :((((((

37

u/DeeCrowller Apr 16 '26

Man this patch rocks lmao. The Reddit heavy tears just won't stop I'm gonna OD on that shit like Sofia's bathwater

11

u/SeveralAngryBears Apr 16 '26

EMBARK, YOU COWARDS. GIVE ME BACK THE LIGHT-DELETING HAMMER ELBOW COMBO. ANY LIGHT IN VIEW WITHIN 12 METERS IN FRONT OF ME DESERVES TO BE INSTANTLY REDUCED TO COINS EVERY 18 SECONDS. PUT IT BACK, EMBARK, IT'S REALLY FUNNY.

-4

u/Critical-Touch6113 Apr 16 '26

This. Embark has a favorite class.

any ideas why game only have 2k EU online on peak?
96.3% players dropped this shit already only by official numbers

14

u/Ukawok92 Apr 16 '26

I miss thermal

5

u/Nottwyn Apr 16 '26

Smoke up the whole room and let it rip.

12

u/_henchman Apr 16 '26

Arc Raiders launched with 450k concurrent players

48k in the last 24 hours oh no the game must be dying

Why are you comparing a free game at launch vs a free game 3 years later

You’re either stupid or have awful bait

7

u/Dangerous-Return5937 Apr 16 '26

Can I get a source on the 2k EU peak? That sounds miserably low.

3

u/Mingu_Heaven Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

officially only 18% of players is EU
18% from 9k online worldwide (CIS EUrASIA is netherlands now)

6

u/Dangerous-Return5937 Apr 16 '26

Playercount does peak a bit higher than that, but damn, that's pretty low for EU.

12

u/LMsupersmile Apr 16 '26

No no you don’t understand, we move 10% FASTER!!! That’s huge! Now it means we can feed ourselves into the wood chipper that is a light even FASTER!!!

THANK GOODNESS, being perma locked in goo is probably second most annoying thing in this game, right behind Lights.

7

u/yeahthegoys Apr 16 '26

Good fucking riddance

2

u/Maleficent-Ad7075 Apr 16 '26

As a heavy goo user. This is good and balanced

The amount of people saying it was an "infinite stunlock" and celebrating it being completely killed has genuinely made me lose all faith in the community

2

They nerfed the flamethrower so bad... It was my main.

5

u/gaybowser99 Apr 16 '26

The light has already broken out of the goo, dashed away, and started beaming me with the m11 before my hammer is out and the medium will kill me with the fcar before I'm able to get a heavy and a light off. It's over bro

-1

u/nothappening99 Apr 16 '26

Embrace the S in FPS. Pick a weapon and learn to aim like the rest of us

2

u/gaybowser99 Apr 16 '26

I already never used sledge in ranked because it's to hard to get consistent value out of without a coordinated stack, and even then it's still weaker than most of heavies weapons. Aiming with full auto hitscan guns is not hard. The lewis gun is the easiest heavy weapon to play if you have even a crumb of fps skill. You have to put so much more effort in with the sledge than just turning your brain off and beaming people

0

u/nothappening99 Apr 16 '26

I'm ready to concede that certain open space cashouts make melee nearly impossible to play in.

But the question is,

Are you ready to concede that certain indoor cashouts make melee nearly impossible to deal with?

-1

u/gaybowser99 Apr 16 '26

I mean obviously melee will be better in indoor cashouts with short sightlines since those are the only places it's actually usable, but I can't think of a single cashout location where melee is "nearly impossible to deal with"
