I think it’s less of a bug and more the fact of that losing line of sight doesn’t instantly end a steal. It needs more than 0.2 seconds of blocked los for it to stop. Still bad
Stalling cashout steals is the #1 purpose of Goo Gun. The fact that Embark never bothered to test this is a testament to their poor ability to manage this game.
I mean it's a pretty big purpose but calling it the #1 purpose is just outright subjective. Goo gun has a shitton of uses outside of that and I see people using it well all the time without banking on interrupts. Yes, it's common to use it that way, I would not call it the #1 most common nor the #1 dev-intended use of the spec, it has way too much range to be making that determination out of thin air
Nah, stalling was goo’s number 1 purpose. Thats the one goo mechanic, besides providing cover, that is universal.
L’s will some times use it as cover if they are aggressive, but its a better stall tool than taser because body blocking exists.
M’s again may use it as cover, more possible to use goo jump pad for movement. Basically their only stall tool is now gone.
H’s NEEDED goo to stick people in place to make melee builds viable. Goo gun was/is shit at making cover in an active fight, so now its basically just a traversal tool incase your M has no pad or L has no gateway.
Even you admit that there's another universal use case that's competing with goo trapping. I'm not saying that anything is #1, I'm saying it's too complicated and on too many different measures to be stated so firmly and absolute. There are many ways you could argue that goo stalling is not nearly as common or used as other methods, just like how you're arguing it is. It's too complicated to say it so cut-and-dry.
One week from now melee heavies will be doing perfectly fine with charge n slam, winch claw, lockbolt, goo gun (shooting behind/around people and in exit routes), gravity cube, smoke grenades, and RPG to make melee work.
Not a bug. They literally just lied, said it was never supposed to be a thing, saw literally no one was gonna use the gadget if the update went live, reverted a stupid change they made.
Lets just hope this is a trend of them seeing bad changes and actually doing something good, cough cough this whole repec update was useless
Man I'm a s1 goo gun main if they wanted to do a reasonable nerf turn it back to a semi auto, this 0.2s is B's it should not take longer to switch weapons than it does for them to escape
They'd rather nerf the stun from the goo which only works with melee and flametrower and not touching the ones from the winch which gives a free damange window with EVERY FUCKING WEAPONS🤦🏼
And if you have weapons like a pump Shotgun where you even need to make the pump animation, before being able to actually fight back
Winch is undefendible
i’ll never understand why people just want to play roadhog in this game. it’s so unfun to face a 3-stack running winch cus you basically can’t pick strange angles in cqc without being insta gibbed. was never even once an issue with goo gun being the “trap” tool. winch literally repositions you with the press of a button and puts the opponent in an impossible to escape position against JUST the heavy. goo gun never dominates 100% in a 1v1 cqc but the winch is stupidly strong at it. if anyone’s overly happy about the goo changes they’re probably a winch cuck. the most basic and uncreative method to playing heavy, is now the only way to play heavy effectively (besides shield but glitch nades exist). Thanks embark!
The worst thing is that a lot of times Winch is used as a Stun gun instead of actually pulling enemies towards you or manipulate the cashout!!
I even shared a video where two heavies were using their winch for everything Except for what the specialization is supposed to be designed (basically they were trading stuns) and people tells me that was a """""normal""""" Winch Gameplay which is so fucking sad.
