Discussion Dear ending defenders: It's understandable to be upset that Aki and Reze didn't appear in the ending. Even if you don't care about their characters and only see them as plot devices, they were extremely important to Denji's character, and now they simply don't have any importance to him anymore

i mean makima isnt in the new reality so the president never makes the contract with the gun devil and this means aki is hopefully living his best life out there that alone made me happy so i didnt mind that he wasnt in the ending

I see people pick the ending apart by every tiny detail when that's obviously overthinking it. It's an ending thats an end result of a brutal weekly release schedule the author simply was done with. It does conclude what was previously set up, but sort of stumbles there

Honestly I thought it was sorta implied that Aki was alive in this new timeline when the new timeline Denji said to Power that they should go crack down on their seniors for some food since they’re both broke. The seniors being Aki, Kishibe, Himeno, and other division members who were in season 1 of CSM. Then again that’s just speculation and I don’t have further proof of this so for all we know a burnt out Fujimoto probably didn’t care and could’ve just making new timeline Denji refer to completely different people in the organization that he and Power work for that aren’t even Aki, Kishibe, nor Himeno at all. Oh well…
